I like Boris Diaw's defense. I think he is an above average defender at PF. Plugs a lot of holes.

Paul Millsap is a very good team defender. Active with a lot of quickness. Intelligent.

*Trade Rumor*

The Pawnee Pacers have inquired about trading for Ray Allen.  When questioned about the talk about Allen being a one-dimensional player, it's rumored that was just an attempt to drive down the trade value for Allen.

PG: Chauncey/ Jarret Jack
SG: Wes Matthews
SF: Lebron
PF: Paul Millsap/Borris Diaw
C:  Tyson Chandler

4 More Picks tomorrow

I like Boris Diaw as a player, but not on this team. I think you needed another defender behind Milsap.

I think with Lebron and Tyson we can cover up for Diaw's defensive issues if need be.

Worried about Chandler's ability to stay on the floor? He's tied for 15th among qualified centers for fouls per 48 minutes. If he's gotta cover to Millsap and Diaw all game, that number might jump a bit.

Ya, that's what I was alluding to. Chandler's a great player, but at most you're looking at 35 minutes out of him.

I don't know how many rotation worthy centers there are left, and I think 13 minutes of Diaw/Milsap could really hurt.

Your 1 and 4 are perfect fits as knock down shooters who can spread the floor for Kobe and Melo.  I still don't like Cousins.  Start JO and have Cousins play backup mintues at the 4 and 5.  I still don't like cousins on this team even in that role.  I think you want a defensive minded vet here

hows this?

I like that a lot more. Cousins was a liability that had cost you the title 'contender' in my mind. I like this better, even though I like Dalembert less as a player.

C     Elton Brand     Kwame Brown
P.F.  Antawn Jamison  Nick Collison  Ryan Gomez
S.F.  Wilson Chandler TWO PICKS LATER 12th and 13th to lock D
S.G.  Monta Ellis     Tracy McGrady
P.G.  Deron Williams, Juan Jose Barea

I really really really like my team

Hard to knock your starters except the lack of any D from 2-4 but I don't know about that bench. lacks a real scorer for a 2nd unit and no toughness. Any isn't Gomes a SF?

Mmmm McGrady?

Now I have 92.5 points among starters they will play with some of the bench most likely all game long
I dont think offense is this team problem
moreso
I think this is really taking shape

I leave Gomes aas PF to keep him taking out people from the box
Most likely I will put some athletic defensive freal as SF with last two picks

And cruise.....

Kwame and Collison were great pickups. I still really dislike Elton Brand/Antawn Jamison as both a pairing, as well as a fit for your team.

Again, like I said he's far from an ideal 3rd guy so I really don't value him that highly, but I don't value Harden that highly either.  Are you thinking about him if he reaches his potential?
As a starter, I think Harden is a 16-17ppg threat with very good rebounding and playmaking ability and average defense. A very efficient scorer and overall offensive player who is a major threat both off the dribble (out of the pick and roll) and with his set jump shot (great range). Very easy to play with. Complements ball-dominant stars very well and creates shots for role players.

Rebounding and playmaking?  In 28 mpg after the all-star break, he averaged 2.8 and 2.4 rebounds and assists per game.  I agree with the offense and the shooting threat, but I have always thought of Harden as a pretty one-dimensional player as a scorer.  (But better than most one-dimensional players in the sense that he's not necessarily a liability in other aspects, just very average to slightly below average)

Do you think Ray Allen is a one-dimensional player?

Absolutely I do.  Luckily for him, he is the best ever in the history of the sport of basketball at that one-dimension, so he's had a very successful career.
How so?  Have you never seen how good Ray at putting the ball on the floor and driving to the hole?  That's the difference between Ray Allen and Reggie Miller.

Not even taking into consideration his passing and defense.

He is "pretty good" at driving to the hole.  He scored 11.4 ppg on jump shots and 2.6 ppg on "close" shots and dunks last season, so he's obviously not doing it too often. http://www.82games.com/1011/10BOS7.HTM

His passing?  Very OK for a guard, I find it absolutely nothing to write home about.  2.7 assists per game (as a guard) on a team that is very unselfish by nature doesn't impress me.  His defense I find to be a product of the system he plays in.  He was widely regarded as a bad (if not terrible) defender when he was a Sonic.

But he is better at putting a ball in a 10 foot high hoop from distances far away than any other man who has ever walked the earth.  That's what makes him great.

I would say he has two elite talents. Shooting and running off screens. Getting open should not be considered the same talent as hitting open shots otherwise Diebler would have been the number one pick overall.

Any thought to starting Brendan Haywood? I kinda like DMC off the bench for you.

Also, I'd like to see some more defense out of the 2 spot for you.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
The Army Ants solidify defense in the 2nd unit as they select

TERRENCE WILLIAMS
A very good backup PG for Rondo. Maybe. Probably. Possibly.

I'd love to see T-Will get a long look at the PG position. He seems very interesting there.

He's a good passer but I'll have him backing up Caron when Marcus Thornton is on the floor as Thornton gives up effort to play D but not very much known for it.

That way with Caron and DeShawn and Marcus-T-Will, there's a balance of offense and defense in the wing.
I don't like T-Williams as a small forward.

He doesn't have the size for it. He is a below average defender at that position. Doesn't play well against guys who are bigger than him.

Plug him in at either of the guard spots (PG or SG) and he is an effective defensive player.

T-Will's natural position is SF. To be honest I never heard T-Will played PG.

He's a wing player for the Nets and got traded to Houston so I believe he can play SF. I do agree that he's undersized at 6'6". I disagree though that he's below average defender at the wing as defending is one thing he is known for.

SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal

I also think you're selling his defense and ball-handling which are both above average. His passing too is above average for a shooting guard, to the point where I'd bet that we don't remember many of the good passes, and mostly remember the bad crosscourt ones in transition, because that's how much we take for granted Ray Allen always making the right choice.
