This is an uber nerdy idea, but I'm interested in it enough that I'd be willing to commish:

Auction (maybe silent, or a variation to keep things going) draft with varying amount of money each owner could spend. Without putting too much thought into it, maybe something like:

5 teams with 30 mil to spend
5 teams with 40 mil to spend
5 teams with 50 mil to spend

Be an interesting exercise, would like to see how people would handle their money.

Up to 3!

I still wanna do the NFL draft

That did seem to garner the most interest. I think there's some serious logistics concerns.

So then what if we do

1 QB
4 Pass Catchers (Wr's or TE depending on offense you want to run)
1 RB
3 Offensive linemen.  Any position (overall strength of those 3 players determines your lines strength

7 DL/OLB (number of each Depends on formation)
2 CB
2 S

This gets us down to 20 rounds.  2 weeks, 2 rounds a day.

I, personally, would be out on any kind of football draft at this point.

Kinda feel like talking hoops.

Don't get me wrong, I like talking hoops too, but part of the fun of things like the pick 2 draft was that it was around the midpoint of the season so we knew what young players had made the jump in their games and what old players started to fall off.  Without the season going the general evaluation of players would be the same as it was when we did the summer draft.

I agree, but without any basketball or free agency I'm kinda yearning to talk basketball, even if it's just kind of reevaluating.

Guess I should just replace my stolen X Box and buy 2k12, huh?

Is Nick's idea of a draft with a salary cap dead?

I thought that was a really good idea. Just needed a decision on the cap.

I'd def do that, just didn't see any progression moving forward.

Eh, I'm much more of an NBA fan than I am an overall basketball fan. Love playing the game too, but can't say I'm always entertained watching NCAA or int'l leagues.

Same here.  I guess between the CB Draft, the Pick 2 draft, and the Historic Draft, I think we have enough basketball drafts.  At some point, you kill the excitement and water down the experience.  We finished up the last basketball draft what, two months ago?  I know it seems like forever due to the lockout, but I really think we're going to kill a good thing if we over-saturate this.

Even though we're a basketball blog, I would prefer the football draft, just because it's something different.

To be honest I love the celts but other than the clippers there arent really any other Pro games that I like watching.  But I would sit down and watch most college games.  I think the brand of basketball is just much more exciting.  More passing, less one on one.

BC is particularly fun when they are on.  Coach Donahue has them playing an up tempo game where they shot the most threes of anybody in the nation last year.  They can beat anybody in the country if their shots are going in, or lose to anybody if they are missing.  You never know whats gonna happen!

Ya, I'm more of an NBA junkie. Probably watch at least 5 non-Celtics games a week, and come playoff time watch at least 2 games a night. Just love the Pro Game.
