Jameer is still out there if anyone wants to trade for him.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Offering a combo of Childress/Splitter for a legit backup C and a depth player at the 2.

I think the one downside to the 24 teams is the less need for trades. Everyone runs pretty deep so there's less of a need to take these two for one trades.

It looks nigh on impossible to trade a point guard. The depth there is incredible.

Very difficult to get value.

I've got Jonas Jerebko in the 13th round.

Trade Announced

Utah Jazz trade Pau Gasol, Dahntay Jones, and Reggie Williams
Cleveland trades Kevin Garnett and Thabo Sefolosha.

Cleveland got the best talent, but Cleveland gave up better players as a package, and I'm as big a Reggie Willaims fan as you'll find on these boards.

Win for Cleveland.

And with that 11th hour trade Walker Wiggle proved what we all knew was true: That he never intended on starting KG next to Blake Griffin.

Ha. TP. But you and I know I had every intention of starting Garnett alongside Griffin. Still, I'm trying something different this year, and have conceded to popular opinion. I have after all been down this road once before 2008-09 Houston Rockets Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Monta Ellis, Grant Hill and Anthony Randolph at center....

At least Gasol for KG is - roughly - an even swap. It was certainly the most palatable of the daily offers I received, being one top five big man for another. I am surprised that anyone among the Boston faithful rates Gasol ahead of Garnett. I still prefer #5. But Gasol has a successful history of playing center and is an ideal mentor for his national team teammate, Rubio.

It's a deal that also make alot of success for Kane and the Utah Jazz as it allows him to reinsert Jefferson in to the starting line up alongside Garnett, for a Celtics fan fantasy team and likely the league's second best starting five: Jefferson, Garnett, Pierce, Butler, and Baron Davis.

Also Gasol really disappointed in the playoffs this year. His mental toughness again came into question.

P.S. E tu Kane? Haha. I like the cutthroat trade assessment. I suppose I'd respond. You clearly weren't worried when you drafted him eleventh.

Agree. Mgent wasn't sold at first, but he got a pretty good return as well. Tiago Splitter can play either the 4 or the 5, and that's insurance for Kenyon Martin, as well as a capable backup center.

Childress has expereince starting at the 2 or the 3, and he's pretty good insurance for the 5 or so games Wade and Iggy will likely miss.

I wasn't using Childress and I needed a legitimate proven defensive backup 5, and mgent needed a proven swingman. Honestly, he probably won it on a talent scale but a considerable margin, especially if Splitter takes a step forward next year.

He's a great fit for you. Wasn't trying to be cut throat. He's better for you then me.  :)

Yup, the key to having a 33 year old Kenyon Martin as your first big off the bench is 3 solid white guys behind him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I was with you until I read your justification. I thought you were trying to acquire Henderson, a high effort, slashing shooting guard with upside. Robin looked awful this year. I prefer Splitter's chances.

Lopez ranked 460th in the NBA in points per play allowed and yielded a Suns-worst 1.08 PPP on 52.8% shooting.

He was particularly bad in post-up situations, as opponents shot 59.3% against him, scored 55.6% of the time for an average 1.07 PPP. He also struggled to defend isolation plays (1.09 PPP, 51.4 FG%, 339th) and spot-up shooters (1.1 PPP, 47.8 FG%, 315th).

All this added up to Lopez recording a team-worst -8.09 adjusted plus/minus, in a season that was shockingly bad in all aspects aside from his improved mid-range jumper.

“There’s certain expectations that you have for players, and you’ve got to be able to meet those expectations,” Gentry said. “We want him to be a better player offensively, defensively, and that’s what our expectations are.
