So we're looking at:

PG. ?
SG. Kobe Bryant
SF. Carmelo
PF. JJ Hickson
C. Chris Kaman

and

Nash
J-Rich
Ariza
Haslem
Noah

I think Lucky did himself a pretty huge favor here, but I can't wait to see how CP fleshes out that Bryant/Melo core. I don't like Hickson at the 4, but beyond that I love Kaman there, and I am anxious to see how people think Melo/Bryant are going to co-exist.

I really don't like how Lucky robbed himself of top level talent and I don't think Melo and Kobe will be able to exist at all.

kobe and melo can do it if lebron and wade can do it.

Sorry but I completely disagree. Present day Kobe and melo are no where near as talented as lebron James and Dwayne wade. Kobe was a in 2008 but not now, and melo has never been as good as those guys.

no they are just as talented

2010 ppg leaders

1. Kevin Durant, OKC   27.7
2. LeBron James, MIA   26.7
3. Carmelo Anthony,    25.6
4. Dwyane Wade, MIA   25.5
5. Kobe Bryant, LAL   25.3

A) That chart doesn't help you.  3&5 on a list is never as good as 2&4.  Close, but not as good.

B) Their defense and passing are still not on the same level.

Also not to mention that 2 and 4 play on the same team, so they had to compete with each other for shots. 3 and 5 did not, if we're just looking at this as a singular thing.

IP, dropping the fact bomb.

i will take kobes 5 rings over lebron's 17 4th quarter points(in 6 games combined) in the finals anyday.
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

Kobe's rings came while playing alongside players he meshed with a lot better than he would with Melo.

everyone said wade and lebron were not going to mesh and they were the alpha dogs for their prior teams and it worked out just fine.

melo and kobe are really good friends. i see this as a wade and lebron pairing(they dominate). It will be pretty hard to stop both guys on any given night they can combine for 60+ points...

i wasnt feeling the nash uptempto style of play as a great fit with kobe and kaman...im going to look for a point guard that can run the half court offense well.

as far as hickson goes..he is extremely talented but inconsistent..in games against the celtics this year he looked like a beast.
Being friends doesn't translate into good fit on the court.  Kobe doesn't let Gasol do his thing, is he going to pass to Melo?

Will he accept that Melo is the best scorer in the NBA, or will he continue to think he is?

Who takes the shot at the end of the game?  How is Melo gonna take it when Kobe is hoisting turn-around fall-away 22 footers with a defender all over him in the clutch?

first of of all kobe and gasol went to 3 straight finals together and gasol has been an allstar the past three years with kobe..so they both put up great numbers so i dont know what you're talking about as far as "gasol not doing his thing".. usually kobe is double covered at the end of games and now with melo kobe will get way better looks.
I'm talking about this past year and into the playoffs.  Kobe isn't the Kobe he was 3 years ago yet judging by the way he plays the game you'd think he doesn't know it, and it doesn't work for him anymore.  He doesn't do his team any favors playing hero ball when you look at how efficient Pau Gasol is in the low post.  I just wonder how it will work when paired with another alpha like Melo rather than a passive Gasol.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Well I mean...we don't really know how well Kobe will mesh with Melo. I'm a Melo optimist..and I'm looking forward to see how he plays a full year next to STAT. You're a Melo pessimist.

Melo in his NBA career has always kinda of come off like a passive entitled talented but spoiled child. Like even when he lost, he expected a pat on the back for getting 32 points on 44% shooting, and that was enough for him. LeBron can be like that too. Wade ain't like that, and neither is Kobe..and that entitled 'its okay we lost, did you see that shot in the third quarter' crap doesn't fly when Kobe's doin work.

I think Melo can be better, but someone's gotta hold him to a higher standard than he demands of himself, and I think Kobe could do that.

If he doesn't smother him with a pillow in his hotel room after a loss to the Clippers or something anyways.

Everyone said that? Some people said that. And my argument has nothing to do with mentality it has everything to do with playing style.

See, my argument has nothing to do with my Melo pessimism, which is substantial, and everything to do with the fact that their games don't compliment each others. The duo won't play the swarming, living in the passing lanes defense that the LeBron/Wade duo would because it's not in their nature. And they're not as pass inclined as they need to be to keep the other involved.

Well it has something to do with mentality, because I doubt you're arguing that Kobe and Melo don't possess the tools to be successful, if one or both were willing to work harder in some parts of their game they were neglecting (facilitating for Kobe, defense and passion for Melo), and sacrifice some FGA's for the greater good.

EDIT: Actually, I'm wrong. You are arguing exactly that.

That is in fact what I'm arguing, because that "if" is like the the "if " attached to "if Greg Oden ever gets healthy..."

i just think they are both smart enough and talented enough to make it work...kobe will be like the big brother to melo. kobe doesn't take any crap he won't let melo slack off on the court. Melo will be motivated under kobe his bff.

Kobe will be like Melo's big brother in the same way that Shredder was a father figure to the Ninja Turtles. And he'd probably try to kill him just as often.

That's not to say he couldn't bring the best out in Melo. I just don't think there would be a lot of affection left in that relationship after the first few months or so. Kobe is a very...VERY demanding teammate.
