For no apparent reason I remember a guy named Marcus Webb who played like 9 games for the C's or something and then got waived because he got arrested for domestic assault.

Another name is Tony Harris who once scored over 100 points in some greek league and played a few games for us in the 90's.

Two others that I thought would contribute alot were Blue Edwards and Todd Day but they are more household names than obscure names.

Tony Harris scored 105 points playing for SWIFT in the Philippine Basketball Association game vs GINEBRA in 1992. He still holds the record for the most points scored by an import.

Brandon Wallace.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Some I remember from the dark days right before Larry Bird came along and made everything right in Celtic Nation:

  Sidney Wicks
  Marvin "bad news" Barnes
  Ernie Digregorio
  Curtis Rowe

and a HOFer who wasn't here long:

  Artis Gilmore

Joe Johnson and Chauncey Billups.  Good thing we dumped them during their rookie seasons!

I don't really know if you can call Tiny Archibald random, but watching him play point guard for the Celtics in the early 80s was my main inspiration for falling in love with the game of basketball and the Boston Celtics.

And, can it be possible that I'm the first to refer to Scot Pollard as a random Celtic?

Ricky Davis.

I know there is a lot of dislike on this Blog, but the man got me season tickets for a season and I forever will thank him for it.

Well of course I'm going to say Emmette Bryant, who was a spark off the bench on the 1969 championship team.

The other guy who popped into my head was Jeff Judkins, who was the last player to wear 32 before McHale.  Jeff had a pretty good rookie season but I think we lost him in the expansion draft.  My memory is of this guy with a shock of red hair who had a pretty good stroke.

I remember 6'7" Derek Strong guarding Shaq in the first round of the '95 playoffs and doing a respectable job.

I remember Todd Day pulling up for 3's on the fast break, and sometimes he'd pull up for 3 but then turn it into a pass to a teammate under the hoop.

I remember Chris Mills playing in the preseason for us and thinking he'd be a player.

I remember watching James Blackwell on one of his 10 day contracts get in the game and he looked like the happiest guy in the world to be playing in an NBA game.  And I also remember John Thomas getting put into his first game with the C's (may have been preseason) and him running around like a chicken with his head cut off because he didn't know any of the plays, but it looked like he had a lot of energy and a lot of heart, and I thought once he gets the sets down, he'll be a contributor (and I believe Tommy said the same thing while broadcasting the game).

I remember a heated confrontation with Marty Conlon and a player from another team (I'm thinking Derrick Coleman and Philly) and Bob Cousy was saying something like "you're not a fighter Marty, you better back down"

I remember Danny Fortson being interviewed a couple of times, and he always seemed like one of the nicest, classiest guys in the world to me.  One of the interviews I especially remember was Jim Rome trying to get Fortson to say something bad about the Celtics/Pitino because of Fortson's extreme lack of playing time (this was shortly after he had already been traded to Golden State), and Fortson just wouldn't bite despite Rome's continued attempts.  Fortson kept replying with a smile, and said things like I'm not going to say anything bad about anybody.  Then later in Fortson's career he seemed like he had such a bad attitude, such a cancer, getting flagrants, techicals, missing practices, calling Stu Jackson a "gangster", talking bad about everybody, etc.  And I thought I can't believe this is the same guy who came off as such a class act to me before.  (This also led me to guess he must have started taken steroids).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I remember being at Celtics rookie camp one year in the early 90's and watching this kid who was recently cut by the Nets named David Wesley......

Tony Massenburg had a couple stops in Boston, I think Red got attached to him while scouting Len Bias

Justin Reed always sticks with me.

The most obscure name I can think of is Daren Morningstar #47 pick in '92

Also FYI I believe Tony Harris is Jerry Steakhouse's half brother
