I remember 6'7" Derek Strong guarding Shaq in the first round of the '95 playoffs and doing a respectable job.
I remember Todd Day pulling up for 3's on the fast break, and sometimes he'd pull up for 3 but then turn it into a pass to a teammate under the hoop.
I remember Chris Mills playing in the preseason for us and thinking he'd be a player.
I remember watching James Blackwell on one of his 10 day contracts get in the game and he looked like the happiest guy in the world to be playing in an NBA game. And I also remember John Thomas getting put into his first game with the C's (may have been preseason) and him running around like a chicken with his head cut off because he didn't know any of the plays, but it looked like he had a lot of energy and a lot of heart, and I thought once he gets the sets down, he'll be a contributor (and I believe Tommy said the same thing while broadcasting the game).
I remember a heated confrontation with Marty Conlon and a player from another team (I'm thinking Derrick Coleman and Philly) and Bob Cousy was saying something like "you're not a fighter Marty, you better back down"
I remember Danny Fortson being interviewed a couple of times, and he always seemed like one of the nicest, classiest guys in the world to me. One of the interviews I especially remember was Jim Rome trying to get Fortson to say something bad about the Celtics/Pitino because of Fortson's extreme lack of playing time (this was shortly after he had already been traded to Golden State), and Fortson just wouldn't bite despite Rome's continued attempts. Fortson kept replying with a smile, and said things like I'm not going to say anything bad about anybody. Then later in Fortson's career he seemed like he had such a bad attitude, such a cancer, getting flagrants, techicals, missing practices, calling Stu Jackson a "gangster", talking bad about everybody, etc. And I thought I can't believe this is the same guy who came off as such a class act to me before. (This also led me to guess he must have started taken steroids).
