Skip Bayless on ESPN First Take
Marshon Brooks is by far the best player in the draft & he went #25 to the Nets.

Skip Bayless is not a credible source for talent evaluation.

ok, fine, nobody agrees with me, and I've
even been called a liar for saying I watched every
Friars game. The conversation cannot proceed.
I'll leave with this:

Of the 234 jump shots Brooks took in the half court setting according to Synergy this season, just 27 were of the unguarded, catch-and-shoot variety, but he scored a lethal 1.7 points per shot on those attempts.

Remember that Danny threw this kid in the trash bin.

good day

Are you crying? Please come back.....and put up some more ridiculous posts about what a good judge of talent you are vs the GM's.

Assuming we resign Delonte, Brooks wasn't taking any minutes from him.

Assuming we resign Wafer, I'd rather see him as our third option at SG of alongside West. Wafer can score better than Brooks will be able to next season, and is much more active on defense.

I'm very happy with what Danny did. Brooks may turn into a decent player, but we need a player like Johnson.

I think JJ can help us immediately. I didn't feel that with Brooks. He'd be getting limited minutes behind all of our guards and when he is out there he will be chucking to prove he can score. JJ is a better fit for us, and Brooks is a better fit in NJ where he can get more PT and a defined role.

I don`t know either player so i can`t say whether DA made a good good or abad choise....
But i find it pretty diffcult to understand how a talent of the caliber the OP describes failed to impress 24 other GMs....

Yeah, about the only thing Bayless is a credible source of is: hyperbole, over-inflated self-ego, and LeBron bashing.  I like the show, especially the 1st and 10 portion (which is Bayless' bread and butter), but mostly just for laughs.

As far as Danny being a schumck, I can definitely get on-board with that.  However, I actually think he was right to pass on Brooks.  We had no need for another SG/PG.  No way he would have been seeing playing time.  As it is we already have a young guard (Bradley) who will again struggle to get playing time this year.  This also the reason I will be surprised if Moore makes the team, and if he does, he'll be in Portland for the duration.

Then why do you act as if your opinion is the ultimate truth?

I am pretty split on the pick, but I think it is interesting to note that brooks was the 4th SG off the board, while JJ was the 10th PF. I think Brooks talent could have impressed, but bigs are almost always a more difficult need to fill.

First I'm neither against or for Brooks.  I just can't stand these he can't play defense claims.  Defense is all about effort and desire.  Now yes some players have better physical/athletic abilities to be a better defensive player than others, but for the most part if you put some effort in and have a solid athletic ability then you can play defense.  With Brooks measurements at the combine he has all the traits to be a solid defensive player.  He didn't play defense at Providence because one, they didn't play much defense as a team to begin with, and two he had to carry the offensive load.

Where did Brooks say he doesn't want to play for the Celtics (link)?

Do we really want a arrogant kid like this with early chemistry problems off the bat?

it's off my chest, and i'm just gonna have to
accept it.. Ainge had MarShon and let him go.
We'll be saying that for years to come
(in my opinion)

I think it's fairly obvious that Baby won't be
signed now, viretually any sizable offer to Davis
is one the Celtics should not even entertain matching.

If this pick means Big Baby is gone, I can live
with it, because I think he's an expired product.

Regardless, I think we needed size. Can you imagine the backlash he would have got if he drafted ANOTHER guard?

The fan base would be absolutely incensed that we have 2 big men on our roster and he picks a guard. I think JaJuan Johnson is an incredible talent. He can spread the floor, play with his back to his basket, and play defense. That's what we need. I don't care if we drafted a 50/20/10 machine, I want size on this team right now. That's all.

snowball, you crazy.

Brooks might pan out, but Johnson is what we needed and can help us right now.
