I'm not going to make a long argument here
about why. Let it plainly be said that I watched
every Providence College basketball game, and
many Purdue games, I am a daily handicapper.

Danny Ainge totally screwed up.
He had Marshon Brooks as a Celtic and threw him away.
I hate when people say "mark my words", but I'll
say it here. Danny throwing away Brooks will be
looked back upon as one of the biggest mistakes
"what could have beens" in Celtic history.
Brooks will become a multi-year All Star
and dominant force in the East.
 
I am infuriated.

But I don't feel bad for Marshon. Jersey is a team
on the mega upswing, getting a new arena and new
location in Brooklyn.

I'm not sure Marshon is NBA ready...I remember Victor Page as probably the best example of a guy I thought would tear it up; he scored so much in college, yet no one drafted him and he ended up a nobody...some guys games don't translate to the NBA

  Someone started a thread like this 5-6 years ago stating that Danny drafting Rondo and not Marcus Williams was the biggest mistake in the history of the franchise. Oddly enough, the Celts got Rondo while the *Nets* got Williams. One can only hope this turns out remotely similarly.

Providence worth guarding, habitually 2-3 players
would be guarding against him.

at least he's happy in Jersey, he was born there,
will likely start, and has a great PG.

Danny's failure to evaluate young talent.
Brooks could have been the replacement for either
Pierce or Allen. He's a better player than Jeff
Green, right NOW he's better than Green.

Because:
- he's an extremely ball-dominant player and a shot-hog.
- even against college competition he lacks the ability to create high-percentage shots - and he was a senior playing mostly against underclassmen. It will get worse in the NBA.

Brooks will need to completely reinvent his game to succeed in the NBA. Maybe he can become a Jodie Meeks type of player. Not sure if his gigantic self-confidence is going to be an asset or a liability in achieving that.

you're making the same mistake Danny did,
judging a 22-year old player upon the system
he had to play in. He WAS the Friars last year.
Not a "ball hog", just the only talented player
on the entire team. The criticisms of his defense
are laughably misapplied, as he was only playing
within the system of the organization at that time,
and its skill set. (un-skill set).
