Does Avery Johnson's voice get squeakier the older he gets?

Kahn never picked Lawson, that's a myth. They were picking for Denver, Ty Lawson was a Nuggets' pick. Just like Ainge picked Johnson, not Brooks.

I think Kahn is a poor GM, but he's been solid tonight. What would be the purpose of adding another young kid with a guaranteed contract? He got some money that may be useful in the process of firing Rambis (a must, horrible coach) and has multiple assets for the future, including picks that are useful for draft'n'stash players or to sweeten deals.

the NBA needs to stop with this "purposed trade" crap and just make the trades official. That will also hopefully end the confusing tendency of teams picking for other teams.

BPA?  Selby?

He would be a heck of a value if he lasts that long...

I don't necessarily understand that Felton / Miller deal for Denver.  Enough teams seemed to like Felton that they could have gotten some actual value for him, rather than a salary dump (or, if they keep him, an aging PG who doesn't want to come off the bench).

I agree.  Felton seems like a better, and more tradeable next season, fit for that team at the same position.

Well, there we go.  Denver gets Jordan Hamilton also.  Makes more sense now.

Selby scares people... literally. Too brash. Abrasive personality. Weird activities. That's why it took so long for him to hear his name.

The Wolves also traded Flynn who is a real live NBA player right now.  I don't care so much that they got a bunch of nothing 2nd rounders or a first in 2013 or a Brad Miller that won't help them.

I mean you'd rather have Brad Miller that Donatas?  A pick in 2013 over Flyn now? I mean I know Ridnour is underrated, but really.

Isaiah Thomas kid out of Washington? He won't be as good as the other guy with his name but can bring us what Ainge hoped Nate would.

Flynn is one of the worst players in the league. The 2013 pick is easily more valuable.

I don't understand why folks are bashing Kahn so much.  This is regarded as a very weak draft.  Rather than give a multi-year guaranteed contract to a guy he didn't like, Kahn turned that into a future #1 from Memphis, a couple future #2s, and a ton of cash (presumably).  That's a pretty good return on a bad pick.

I guarantee that Kahn gets more value out of his pick than a lot of other GMs do from theirs.
I thought it fairly evident. They have a ton of young talent, not much of which is very good. They need veteran talent. So rather than picking talent now(weak draft or not this is a crap shoot and he did trade with Chicago, Miami, and Houston, teams with great GMs who will probably all be good and whose picks will probably be as low or lower than this years, except maybe Hosuton's) they put it off and off and receive possibly even lower picks than they were trading.

They don't need more picks. They don't need more youth. They probably need more money but that's about it. What they need is to move some of this youth for vets but Kahn has signed a lot of it to bad contracts and continues to trade down and down every year and getting worse and worse talent.

And now in the next day or so he is apparently going to fire his coach over the phone after hiring a guy dedicated to the triangle offense after having no players that fit that particular offense. He's the same guy that drafted Flynn, Rubio and Lawson in the same draft and now has probably the worse of the three still on his team. he's the guy that has 5 PFs and just drafted another.

Sorry, Kahn gets no love here. He's a bozo.

Eh...  If this was Bill Belichek, people would be talking about what a genius he was.  Kahn parlayed the 20th pick into a tradeable contract (Miller's), a future #1 from Memphis, and several #2s and cash.  That's a fairly impressive haul.

Sure, the Twolves need talent and vets.  However, much like Danny Ainge did, Kahn is acquiring "chips".  Future #1s and possibly the #2s will be tradeable assets that can help land that vet the Twolves need.  Since the Wolves aren't close to winning, I think it's more important to get value and assets than it is to get random veterans.
Roy this isn't the NFL where prime talent can be found in the second half of the draft extremely often and the last 3/4s of the draft on a regular basis. You want talent in the NBA draft you get top 10 picks and everything else is luck.

All-Pro NFL players are regularly selected in rounds 2,3,4 and 5. All-NBA players are seldom selected after pick 15. Huge, gigantic difference.

Then why are you bashing Kahn for trading the 20th pick in a very weak draft for a future #1, millions of dollars, and future #2s?  If Kahn couldn't either draft or trade that pick for a difference maker, then the assets he acquired seem to be tremendous value.

As a GM, Kahn has been mostly bad.  However, that doesn't mean he doesn't make the occasional good decision.
The millions of dollars I give him credit for but all the rest is basically as useless as the 20th pick this year. He could have just traded the 20th pick for a future 1st and money and picked up as much quality as he did. Chicago and Miami's future 2nd rounders? You mean future 58th or 59th or 60th picks in the draft? Good stuff there!!!!

All he did was pick up money and traded a pick this year for a future first and again, that's not what they need. They need vets with talent and came away with Miller(a guy that's old and injured) and money.

If I'm a Minnesota fan, I'm trying to run this fool out of town. He had so much possibilities today and instead kept leaking stuff to the media, kept devaluing his 2nd overall pick because of it, kept asking for way too much in return for it and walked away from the day with Williams(a player almost exactly like Michael Beaseley a player they already have), Miller a future first, worthless future 2nd rounders and money for their pick, Flynn and a first.

Color me thoroughly unimpressed.
