[dang]! Golden state bought the rights to Tyler and we didn't jump on that?

This makes me sad.

I also think Von Wafer is fairly superior to Brooks. More athletic. Easier for him to construct high percentage shots vs NBA defenses. And  Von Wafer isn't the chuker he used to be... something that Brooks still is.

That makes at least 2 of us. Solid evaluation imo.

3 of us.

Did they say Tyler dropped out of h.s. as a junior?  That and just watching him poorly complete a drill for an NBA team suggest to me that this guy does not have a high mental capacity to put in 100% effort for necessary stretches in the NBA.

I don't understand why folks are bashing Kahn so much.  This is regarded as a very weak draft.  Rather than give a multi-year guaranteed contract to a guy he didn't like, Kahn turned that into a future #1 from Memphis, a couple future #2s, and a ton of cash (presumably).  That's a pretty good return on a bad pick.

I guarantee that Kahn gets more value out of his pick than a lot of other GMs do from theirs.
I thought it fairly evident. They have a ton of young talent, not much of which is very good. They need veteran talent. So rather than picking talent now(weak draft or not this is a crap shoot and he did trade with Chicago, Miami, and Houston, teams with great GMs who will probably all be good and whose picks will probably be as low or lower than this years, except maybe Hosuton's) they put it off and off and receive possibly even lower picks than they were trading.

They don't need more picks. They don't need more youth. They probably need more money but that's about it. What they need is to move some of this youth for vets but Kahn has signed a lot of it to bad contracts and continues to trade down and down every year and getting worse and worse talent.

And now in the next day or so he is apparently going to fire his coach over the phone after hiring a guy dedicated to the triangle offense after having no players that fit that particular offense. He's the same guy that drafted Flynn, Rubio and Lawson in the same draft and now has probably the worse of the three still on his team. he's the guy that has 5 PFs and just drafted another.

Sorry, Kahn gets no love here. He's a bozo.

Jeremy Tyler to GSW huh? Hm, interesting but not a bad destination for him. I have to say though I am happy we didn't pick him... didn't look like he did all that well over in Japan and he had to be BY FAR the tallest one over there.  :P

I don't necessarily understand that Felton / Miller deal for Denver.  Enough teams seemed to like Felton that they could have gotten some actual value for him, rather than a salary dump (or, if they keep him, an aging PG who doesn't want to come off the bench).

I agree.  Felton seems like a better, and more tradeable next season, fit for that team at the same position.

So now that MJ has the Bobcats and Kwame Brown on his team do you think he will personally introduce the two of them?

Oh hey Tyler. Meet the last 19 year old big man phenom I drafted. You two will be roommates. Granted Kwame here didn't have to work hard because he had a first round contract. You don't have that so listen to everything this guy says. See ya later. I gotta go film a Hanes commercial

Oh hey. Traded to Golden State. He can hang out with the other last 19 year old phenom that MJ drafted and traded....Brendan Wright.

Eh...  If this was Bill Belichek, people would be talking about what a genius he was.  Kahn parlayed the 20th pick into a tradeable contract (Miller's), a future #1 from Memphis, and several #2s and cash.  That's a fairly impressive haul.

Sure, the Twolves need talent and vets.  However, much like Danny Ainge did, Kahn is acquiring "chips".  Future #1s and possibly the #2s will be tradeable assets that can help land that vet the Twolves need.  Since the Wolves aren't close to winning, I think it's more important to get value and assets than it is to get random veterans.

A lot of people seem to be leery of JaJuan Johnson's lack of bulk.  But if you look at KG's draft profile, they measure up nearly identically!

KG was 6'11 and weighed 220 lbs.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kevin-Garnett-2520/

JJ 6'10 and 220 lbs
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/JaJuan-Johnson-5307/

Obviously, I'm not saying that JJ is going to be the next KG.  But it seems to me that guys with that start out with that similar size/build can get stronger and better over time.  I like the fact that JJ is an athletic guy who blocks shots.  At the least he'll give us some weak side/team help shotblocking ability.  That will help defensively.  It also doesn't hurt that JJ will have one of the best PFs in the game to mentor him and teach him the ropes.
