Sign him!!!

Are we definitely going to get Dalembert? Most probably not.

We're going to get scrubs and J.O. will be our main center...playing 20 minutes a game. Can you bear to watch Big Baby play center again?

Without a legit center, this year is probably going down the drain.

Gamble!

I would sign him. I mean, the chance of him being healthy come april is better than the chance that Shaq or JO would have been healthy last year, and at least with Oden there is the possibility that he can have a bright future.

I like the gamble too.  It's a huge risk; however, what are the alternatives?  Signing someone like Dalembert would help next year, but would likely hinder our cap flexibility down the road, since I'm betting he's not taking a 1 (or even 2) year MLE deal.

With Oden, it's a gamble, but if it pays off, we solve the center problem for this year's playoffs (with him and O'Neal) and you potentially have a building block at center for the future.

People may say it's too big of a gamble; however, the chances of Oden regaining his potential are probably better than Dwight Howard coming to Boston.  People want some sure-fire rebuilding plan, but the fact of the matter is that it's all a crapshoot with a pretty low chance of being successful.

Change the thread title to:

"Oden may not play ever."

Or, actually, considering the lockout possibilities, you could change it to "All NBA players may not play until January."  Sad but true.  Oden's additional recovery time might not be an issue at all for the Blazers.

This guy is Yao on a much smaller scale

what? the dude haven't even played 20 full games, Yao at least played 5-6 seasons before being injured...

Yao contributed more to his team than Oden did

You should start a poll. Sign Oden and Don't Sign Oden.

better yet... will oden ever play again?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Well, those who say sign him probably think he will play again and play well. Those who say don't are probably leaning towards not playing again.
