even if it was said in Jest, its another example why these "trade rondo" posts are rediculous...its yet another star NBA player complementing Rondo's passing abilities and mentioning him specifically.....OJ mayo is another player who said hed love to play with rondo.

its a longshot(as most big free agent signings are) but we are in a good position to make a hard run for him. if he wants to win championships this is his best option: alot of cap space, Rondo, Pierce and a well respected coach with a winning system in doc rivers

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
A little off topic, but if Orlando called right now and offered Miami Howard for Lebron straight up, wouldn't Miami have to at least consider that after what happened in the Finals?  The only team that would definitely be competitive against that over the next. 5 years is OKC.

Lebron is still definitely a better player than Dwight, so I am not so sure that Miami would 'jump all over it', but it sure would open things for Wade to be the leader, give them a killer post presence, and give them a different identity that people may not dislike as much. It might also give Lebron a fresh start, although not in the best situation (although no worse than Cleveland).

All that being said, it would be strange to give up after just one year and being so close to a championship. They are only going to get better...right?

I would love to see some D12 in Green. I honestly don't think its that huge of a long shot either. Plenty of money, looooong history, players around that can be used to compliment nearly any superstar, and a pretty awesome PG in Rondo.

The question is...why do WE want to work with him?

TP for the joke... unless its not a joke

lol, you might be surprised at how a few number actually don't want Dwight in green. i came into a debate regarding this same issue some time ago and his main reason was that it was because Dwight smiled too much. Not his heretofore limited post moves, not his poor free-throw shooting, or elbow-swinging self, but simply because he seemed too happy. o_O

OKC would beat them every time they have Perk.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Would we have plenty of money to give him though?

Well pierce and rondo are the only. Guys we have signed past 2012 so we should have a lot of cap room to offer a max contract

i wish, i wish, i wish that Dwight comes to play here. It's obviously a joke, but jokes are half-meant right? and Ray Allen at 37 or KG at 35 or whatever would still better than any bench player out there.

ill believe it when i see it...

but we have so much money to offer him!, him coming here along with the big 3 signing for less...and use the remaining money to sign good role players, and we will knock those cocky heats off!

Nice, but not enough.. They'd still need another superstar, a closer!
It'd be great to see alley-oop dunks every other 3 possessions.. 'R2D12' sounds nice!

Well we'd still have PP and in theory could re-sign both Ray and KG.

Don't you think DH coming in here to play for Doc would make KG and Ray think twice about retiring?

Other prominent thread being commented on right now:

Re: Owners pressing for up to a 40% paycut???

The only way you'll see Howard, Garnett, and Allen on the same team after the CBA will be in one of the meaningless pickup games...All Star game...Olympics...etc

R2D12!  Lol!

I know that two players don't make a team, of course, but I think that if you had Rondo and Howard on the same team, it wouldn't just be alleyoops.  It would be every kind of way that two guys can work the inside-out game (complete with drives and drop-offs, etc.). ESPECIALLY if Rondo can nudge his shooting up significantly,  I think you'd have the closest thing to automatic offense that the NBA has seen in a while.  I think that we got a taste of what Rondo can accomplish when he's working with a real inside scorer when he played with Shaq earlier this season.  It  was downright scary at times.

That said, a lot of it comes down to the same thing, in the end:  to become the player it seems like he could be, Rondo's got to improve his shooting.  I'm convinced he can and will.  When I watch Rondo play, I see a shooter in there.  I think he has a real feel for the bucket, and that's the most important thing.  It's mainly a matter of practice (and, I would hope, expanding his repertoire of moves, not just trying to shoot like Mark Price, but also shooting on the run, hook shots - why not work on all of this during the lockout?).

I dunno.  If I were Howard, I'd want to team up with Rondo.  We can talk all we want about who is the best point guard, but I suspect that the guys in the NBA know a very special talent when they see one.  I think Rondo could make Howard a 30 point scorer.  I think that's got to be attractive.

As Red Auerbach used to say..."People don't understand, we're only a few little moves away from being 'right there again'..."

1. Let's say we do land Dwight Howard
2. Rondo at point, Howard at center - you have your foundation for multiple championship runs

3. Jeff Green at SF - three pieces in place

4. You use Bradley and our pick to trade up, either this year, OR NEXT, after Bradley has developed more - to draft a very y youg PF that compliments Dwight Howard very well. Ideally someone who can score from mid range consistently

5. Add a good young shooting guard with the Clipper pick...

6. Mid level for the right Vet.

To build a champion you have to get lucky - if we get Howard, we will be on our way.

If not, there are other ways to build it, but Howard would make it exponentially easier and faster.
