Is Kristic that white guy with thining hair who sat next to Troy Murphy on the Bench during the playoffs?  Cause he didn't look like he was going to help us next year from there.

Go sign us some free agents, Danny.

Oooops, lockout!

Pass me my fishing pole!

And guys,,,Nenad Krystic isn't walking through that door.  The negativity on this blog sucks! lol

So now the trade 2 players who didn't help (perk arguably hurt) okc for the services of krstic for part of a season, jeff green and a draft pick.  ::)

Trust rondo and our team concept!  Give me an athletic center willing to work on boards and run the floor.  A young Battie would look great playing with rondo.

If it wasn't for Rondo's elbow and possibly JO's wrist we'd still be playing. Unless the big three are retiring we'll be legit contenders next year.

We can probably still be legit contenders if the big three don't retire. We need a center, like half the other teams in the league do. Although the lockout might buy us some time for J.O. and to get a center...somewhere.

How will we ever survive?  I could sworn it was obvious that Perk wasn't coming back, which is why it was so important to trade him.   But it wasn't obvious Krstic wasn't coming back.   The crystal ball in the Celtics office is having some problems

Here are 8 unrestricted FA centers:

Przybilla
Wilcox
Foster
Gadzuric
Dalembert
Armstrong
Jason Collins
Kwame Brown

I'm not sure if you are losing a whole lot with any of these guys.

since in my opinion, Kristic is a 2nd/3rd string center at best.

Krstic has been a starting center his entire NBA career; I'm not sure how you're drawing the conclusion he is 2nd/3rd string at best.  He's been a starter while other more highly touted center prospects have come and gone.  This is a huge blow as I don't think the C's have many realistic options to get a better center than Krstic this offseason.  It would require a pretty significant trade to land someone.

The better players on this list will go for more than the MLE.  And Kwame Brown?? Are you serious?  I hope to never see him in green.

How would we have signed Krstic anyways?  He's certainly worth more than the vet min and LLE.  We don't own his Bird Rights.  So we would have needed to use some or most of our MLE, correct?

People on these boards come up with all these crazy ideas about offseason moves; but do you realize this team has 0 financial flexibility?  We can match on JG and BBD so it seems likely those guys will return.  But guys like Krstic and Delonte who are worth more than vet min/LLE; we either need to decide between them or other players; we can't have them all based on the cap.  It's almost certain the cap will get reduced by at least some amount so the new CBA will not likely help us.

Interested in what route we plan to go now. I felt last year JO was healthy to go all of like 7 games in a row then out for awhile. I hope Danny plus a trade out of his hat cause we need to do something.

Now all Danny has to show for it is an underwhelming Jeff Green and a likely middle-of-the-pack draft pick.

Geez, if you think Jeff Green was underwhelming, I wonder what you would've thought of Perkins as a Thunder fan? Jeff Green performed slightly better here than he did in OKC...the people who expected drastically more apparently didn't realize that we had Ray/Pierce/KG?? He was brought here to perform a role and did a pretty solid job of it.

Middle of the pack draft picks aren't bad in Danny's hands, if you are to judge his performance in strong drafts like the 2012 one projects to be. I for one wouldn't have been very happy this summer if we signed Perkins for 5 years after that postseason he just had and no assurance about his health moving forward. The draft pick is nice, but still a mystery as it's tied to the Clippers and they are a wild card team for next year.

Look, Perk was playing at 65 percent at best and his team still went further in the playoffs than Jeff Green's team. This trade stunk in February, was bad in May and is worse now.

A starting center who played about 10 minutes in the second round of the playoffs. The guy's defense stinks and he can't rebound. Glad he is gone, but it is too bad that the Celts now don't have a reliable center. I am sure though that this is all part of Danny's master plan.  ;D

I'm trying to decipher that post, Vinnie.  You just ranted how bad Krstic is and then proceeded to say that since he's gone we don't have a reliable center....  In your mind, is Krstic a reliable NBA center?

The reality is he'd have been hard to sign anyway.

I'm amazed at the number of people in here who trashed Krstic throughout his tenure here who now thinks we've hit the abyss now that he's gone.

Kristic was just  a throw in.  The Trade was about sticking it to Perkins (Ainge seems to have taken Perkins' refusal do sign on demand quite personally), and acquiring Green (viewed by many Celtics fans, unaccountably, as The Answer).
