Probably Wade.  He proved he could do it as the main man even though he did have help with Shaq.

I dont really remember too much of Pippens game because I was too young, but even so Wade doesnt get enough credit as a big time all around player. I think I would have to take him just based on what I have seen from him.

Same.

Scottie. Although he was listed at 6'7", he was probably more like 6'9" and with loooong arms. He could guard basically any position, any player. I  also remember him playing point forward on so many occasions, especially when Mike was on the bench. He could do it all and would probably have been The Man on most other teams. No disrespect to Wade, I just think Pippen was better.

Depends on who the first option was, but probably pippen.

Arguably the best defender ever. Easily top 3 perimeter defenders, no matter how you wanna argue.

Good question and very difficult to pick. It also depends on who your number 1 is, and whether you prefer versatility and all time defense or better offense. Pip is a better complement to Jordan. Wade is a better complement to James.

I'm gonna go with Pippen.

His defense was the best i have seen at the SF position, especially when you factor in how long he could sustain it and how he could pick it up full court.

Ask me again tomorrow and I might pick Wade for his superior scoring skills and outside shot. This is harder than picking Jordan or James.

Pippen.  One narcissist on my team is enough.

I expect Wade to have the better career when it is all said and done because Pippen's prime was fairly short. Pippen had a long career (16/17 years) but a short prime (5/6 years). I expect Wade to have more seasons as an MVP or near MVP caliber talent than Pippen had.

However, at their respective peaks, their value was fairly comparable to one another. They do have different skill-sets though so that would be the deciding factor. How they fit in on their team.

Primarily, as the question asks, it would depend on what type of player their main talent is. Is the main player a perimeter player? Or a big man? Is he an elite scorer (say Kevin Durant) or a good-to-very good scorer + elite facilitator (say Dwight Howard)?

I'd be inclined to choose Wade alongside the elite big man and/or the elite facilitator and choose Pippen alongside the elite perimeter scorer.

I'd pick Pippen in that situation because I think his non-scoring contributions where greater and that he is a more seamless fit offensively as a second option alongside a top scorer. I'd choose Wade when I wanted a top notch scorer / go-to guy on the perimeter.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
D wade averaged 35 points in the finals when the Heat won in 2006.

Scottie could never do that even with Shaq.

Wade is the better all round player, whilst Scottie is ahead on defense because of his consistent effort/excellence. (D wade only plays defense when he chooses too).
D Wades ability to take over a game at his choosing is why he gets my nod.
Who has a better chance of getting the MVP of the league?
Clear winner= Wade.

I know if I could have one of them on my team I'd take Wade all day.

Wade, his defense is supremely underrated, as is his leadership and his ability to take over a game. Mark me on this one, by the end of this Miami Heat's team's run, people will remember Wade as the better player than Bron.

If we're talking second fiddle on the team I'd have to go with Pippen.  I believe part of thriving as the 2nd guy is adopting a particular mentality about being in a subordinate role and an instinct about and when to try to assert yourself playing off the 1st guy.  Pippen proved he could do that successfully for 6 Championships.  In that same way, I would choose Wade over Pippen as a 1st guy on a team since he's proven he could be the best player on a team and lead them to a Championship.  Between '93 and '95 Pippen had a chance to be the number one guy while Jordan was "retired."  He was great but he couldn't bring the Bulls to the promise-land with Phil still coaching and teams that were relatively similar to the ones that had just three-peated.  As soon as Jordan came back in '95 they three-peated again.
