I hope he doesn't this year. To me he has to go out with a bang and this year didn't happen also I have yet to see him play and if there is a shortened season and he comes to LA I have a chance to see him before he retires. KG retiring would hurt me more than any other player out now since he is my favorite of the bunch still playing along with Duncan.

Also today's his birthday so hopefully he has a great 35th birthday today.

KG is absolutely NOT retiring this summer. No chance.

That being said, he CAN still dominate 80% of the games for 30 minute clips MAX. The long minutes in the playoffs clearly gassed him out. It was awful to watch. 30 minutes should be the new cap for him.

He needs some serious help and if/once he gets it, it's going to be a good situation once again. This is just my opinion.

KG is emotional (understatement, I know), but once he's around his teammates I think he'll give it another go.

If I'm Danny I get some players to talk to Dwight to push for a move to Boston.  I then call Orlando and offer KG's expiring + Green + Clippers 1st round pick for S&T Dwight Howard + Gilbert Arenas' albatross contract.

Then again, nothing is happening until the new CBA takes effect.

Would anyone be shocked if KG threatened to retire if Ainge tried to trade him during the offseason?

If the lock out is going to be as bad as people are saying I could see him walk away.  I think it was December when he said the potential lock out could make this past season his last.
That's exactly what I think.  A long lockout with an unfavorable CBA for the players on the other side and you might see KG...and quite a few others...just decide to not come back.

Funny thing is that would greatly increase his trade value. Get rid of $20M worth of players for someone that won't be on your payroll this year? Plenty of teams would jump at that.

If the season doesn't start on time, I could definitely see him retiring.  A shortened season full of back-to-backs is going to be too tough on him

He doesn't need to play big minutes in the back to backs.

He's still an all-star. I don't see him walking away yet.

KG has made $270 million in his career. I seriously doubt he stays because of the money. If he is ready to walk, regardless of his skill level or money left on his contract or money he can still make after his current contract expires, he will walk away.

The loss might bother him because he sees that he can't bring it consistently every night in the playoffs against younger, stronger players and he knows in order to succeed in the playoffs you have to bring it every night. He could be coming to the realization that his time in the spotlight is over and will decide to leave.

If he stays or retires, neither would surprise me.

I don't see why he wouldn't want to make over $300 million. These guys have to make sure they'll be set for the rest of their luxurious life ppl remember?

That doesn't even include all his endorsements. I'm sure he has made another $100 million from his deals with Nike, And 1, Adidas, Anta, Gatorade, Verizon, etc.

He has to have made over $400 million already. Even if you want to take half out for taxes, and half of that he spent, he still is probably sitting on 9 figures.

In other words, he does not need the money. Nor will he ever. He can start gambling with 'Toine and Barkley, hire MC Hammer's entourage, and go shopping with Nicolas Cage and still be straight.

He's coming back next season for sure, if there is a season. If there isn't, I would still put him at more likely to come back than not.

He just doesn't want to be Shaq ... plain and simple. He won't let himself get to that point in which he can no longer perform to his potential. He's not going to retire this year ... But don't be surprised if you see him hang up those Anta's at the end of this season.

If they were seriously going to blow this thing up, I could see him walking away.  But no way he walks away with Ray, Paul, and Doc all coming back next year.

I mean even if we grant that the window is closes, you never know how it could open up again.  Even if Miami is the better team, you never know when what happened to KG could happen to LeBron, and all of the sudden the window opens again.

While I don't see him as his MLE teammate, It's hard for me to fathom Garnett walking away from that much money.

He'll give it his all next season.  He ain't going anywhere.

I remember reading KG's blog when he hurt his calf this season, dude was ready to go out there carrying his leg in his hands with him if need be. The guy talked like basketball to him was like crack to a base-head! It gave me the feeling that this dude will have huge mental problems if he can't play... go look at the blog. I would easily believe a newspaper article 1 month after he retires saying he either went crazy and was admitted to a facility or something, b/c his life IS basketball!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
