KG has made $270 million in his career. I seriously doubt he stays because of the money. If he is ready to walk, regardless of his skill level or money left on his contract or money he can still make after his current contract expires, he will walk away.
The loss might bother him because he sees that he can't bring it consistently every night in the playoffs against younger, stronger players and he knows in order to succeed in the playoffs you have to bring it every night. He could be coming to the realization that his time in the spotlight is over and will decide to leave.
If he stays or retires, neither would surprise me.
I don't see why he wouldn't want to make over $300 million. These guys have to make sure they'll be set for the rest of their luxurious life ppl remember?
That doesn't even include all his endorsements. I'm sure he has made another $100 million from his deals with Nike, And 1, Adidas, Anta, Gatorade, Verizon, etc.
He has to have made over $400 million already. Even if you want to take half out for taxes, and half of that he spent, he still is probably sitting on 9 figures.
In other words, he does not need the money. Nor will he ever. He can start gambling with 'Toine and Barkley, hire MC Hammer's entourage, and go shopping with Nicolas Cage and still be straight.
He's coming back next season for sure, if there is a season. If there isn't, I would still put him at more likely to come back than not.
