not really a fan of Dalembert but if the C's could ever pull off Carl Landry i'd be more than thrilled. Guys plays like Leon Powe on steroids.

But once again, we'd be undersized. I don't like these tweener forwards. the problem with Landry as well as Powe is that a lot of PFs and Centers shoot right over them. Thats a huge problem. We'd be forced to play a long  defensive minded PF/C with them at all times - KG.

If Dalembert does accept the MLE, I expect him to go to Miami. He'd be an excellent addition for them. Have to believe they'll pursue him vigorously if he is available for the MLE.

And I think Dalembert warrants considerably more than the MLE to begin with.

Consequently, I don't view him as a realistic target.
as a another note - MIAMI/South Florida has a HUGE HAITIAN population. I do believe that he is from Haiti. If choosing Boston or Miami, just on culture - he's on his way to Miami.

Where are people on KG at C?

If they got Landry and Green plays some PF minutes, it could move KG to the 5 for significant minutes a game. Not necessarily ideal, but not a terrible option either.

KG doesn't like to play C. He's said it before. He wants someone to crash the boards aka Perk.

From the Celts point of view, the shorter the season the better.

Not if Garnett chooses to retire, as he has hinted he might do in case of a lockout.

A short season is one thing.  No season is something else.  I can't imagine that there's any basketball to be played for a LONG time.

They certainly would have to phase in a hard cap. they're not going to force the break up of all these newly constructed teams that are finally boosting the popularity of the NBA.

how would a team like Miami even get to that level?

to be fair, if the cap is that low, wouldn't all teams be in the same boat, theoretically leveling the playing field and giving a team like the Celtics (who do have cap flexibility right now) a leg up?

Can't see a hard cap as part of the new CBA. The league can't risk losing multiple, valuable assets belonging to small market teams in need of attendance. The soft cap works, and the luxury tax revenues should be divided evenly by teams who are under the cap. That way the larger market teams will be more conscious of their spending.

But you're point is spot on when you juxtapose Bos. to Miami. Celts have $30m+ off the books next season. Even with cap holds, free agent signings and JG's q/o, they're likely to stay well under the current $58m cap. More importantly they have Rondo's contract, which has trade value. We can only hope Green's contract would be as moveable.

Miami doesn't have that luxury. They're significantly over $58m for the next five years. Miller's contract can't be moved. Haslem is still owed $18m+, and we don't know if J. Anthony (4yrs/$14m) had a breakout year or it being just an aberration. Unless they use the MLE and split Jones/Chalmers salary they won't be able to keep either player.

So the Celts' do have an edge in cap flexibility, and without some palatable overtures by the owners the Heat will likely be playing 2 1/2 on 5 for years to come.
