  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think next year we should do a draft with no active players and no HOFers.  Now that would be an interesting collection of teams.

That would be wacky.

I wish I knew Hockey or Football better. Hockey especially would be a sport prime for one of these drafts. I'd feel bad though, cuz I'd just draft Eric Lindros 5 times in a row.

Bottom line: Glen Rice is the best

What I liked today:  Most recent trade for Portland (getting Moncrief & Webber), Hal Greer, DJ, Kevin Durant, Alex English, Wes Unseld, Walt Bellamy

What I didn't like: Billy Cunningham, Mitch Ritchmond, Derrick Rose, Glen Rice

What I'm not sure about: Earl Monroe, Paul Silas
what's wrong with Billy Cunningham?

Size more than anything in my book.  I'm not sure how he'd operate going up against some of the frontcourts in this exercise.  Don't get me wrong, he was a heckuva talent.  I just have concern there. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he your first big off the bench?

Feel free to convince me, otherwise, though.  I'm all ears.

What's there to be unsure about with the Black Jesus?  The things he did were ridiculous and unbelievably unique.  He's probably the only guy in the draft that you just can't compare to anyone else, and I don't think we'll ever see another player that does the things he did.

He also averaged 42 points as a senior.

The 42 point average as a senior doesn't mean a thing in this format.

You need size, not another scorer.  You already have plenty of that.
Yeah, but he's nasty is the point I was trying to make.

I'm not gonna pass up any all-time greats just because I already have a few of the best scorers in history.  I've already got one of the fastest-paced teams ever, guys that can put a ton of points on the board are typically a lot more valuable in those type of systems than the bigs.

Plus I've already got two 7-footers, it's not like I'm really hurting for size at this point.

I will hand it to your team in the entertainment department.  They'd be fun to watch.

Is Seattle worried about Unseld being a center and 6ft7 (and maybe shorter)?

Not really, just means we could play him at PF.  ;D

I think he is fine as a PF/SF in this thing off the bench.  And I'd take Bobby Jones, Bill Cunningham, and Hal Greer at the 4, 3, and 2 against any other teams bench at those positions and would feel more then comfortable doing so.

Hockey would certainly work, I just think not enough people know enough about it to make it worthwhile.  Baseball probably makes a lot of sense.  Perhaps limit it to just position players or just pitchers so as to not go on forever.

Don, That's my role for T-Mac, versatile swingman off the bench to play the 2 and 3. Spot PG duty off the bench for a team like Chicago versus Magic.

Why I took Mitch, StartOrien basically made my argument but I want a solid defender and deadly shooter to round out my starters.

I see my team using Wilt as the primary focus downlow, with another solid low post player in McHale. Double them and I have shooters like Barry and Richmond to make you pay, while Zeke runs the show.

I'd go all over ... but definitely start with Pele, (then maybe Ronaldo, Beckham, Messi, Donovan, Schmeichel, Barraza, Maradona, Zidane, Muller ... we should do this).

An all time hockey draft would be sweet. Maybe College Hoops.
