I went with Reed because he is versatile and can play both big man positions, he was a defensive and rebounding monster and because his 1969-70 year was off the hook dominant in an era where there were a ton of great big men.

Besides him a PF with Magic, the Logo and Walton is also a great fit for my team.

The Los Angeles Lakers select:

Joe Dumars!

A calming presence and proven champion. While no one could ever stop Jordan completely, Joe Dumars could slow him down. He and GP form a defensive duo that would be effective to this day.
Gotta say I didn't see that happening though he is a real nice fit for that team.

One of the panelists is absolutely gaga over Dumars, so there's that.

And THATS ME!!!!!!!!

The nine tailed Panelist

GREAT PICK!!!
Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

I think your biggest strenght is prime time shaq

I would hope so, he was my number 1 pick haha.

Also, this is kind of off topic but when you talk about comparing era's Daniel Tosh had a really funny joke about Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds.  Saying people shouldnt be hating on bonds and the steroid era guys so much because guys like Ruth never had a pitcher Like CC Sabathia staring him down throwing 90 MPH sliders.  Or for that matter, Babe never had to play against Negro League Players

Yeah, it brings us back to the same type of argument.  I personally think that players like Bonds and Ruth would have been great in any era.  Put them in the year 2085, with the advantages of people of that era, and they'd dominate, as well.  (As a wild aside, people *should* criticize Barry Bonds for cheating, though.  He had the God-given talent to dominate without enhancements.)
The thing is Bill Russell will always be 6'9".  Sure he would be a lot stronger if he played today, but he would still be 6'9".  For me that is how I look at it, I don't look so much as weight, strength, power, speed, etc., but some things aren't going to change and height is one of them.  Another is athleticism.  Either you are athletic or you aren't.

So if I was judging this thing, I wouldn't put much stock in weight, but absolutely would put a lot of stock in height.

With the 5th pick in the 4th Round of the 2011 CB Historical Draft the Chicago Bulls select:

Willis Reed

Great pick.  Meshes real well with Walton.

Lots of good picks so far this round. I haven't been scratching my head on any like I did the past couple of rounds.

So, the average height of NBA players have stayed the same over the years?

I really like the Kidd pick.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder with PGs at this point, but how many guys are All-Defense, plus have the ability to put up a triple double every night?

This is the guy I probably would have taken instead of Gary Payton if I was GF (almost equal defense, better overall), but again, it's a personal preference.

Thanks.

About 24 hrs after the discussion yesterday, I could see some of the points that posters were making here about GP. I think Dumars will start to bring balance to the team.

I have one more binnie to go after tomorrow, and I think it will shock most of us here, at least initially.

But boy will it make things fun for me.

Yeah, I don't think I can keep height static.  The average male height has grown 1.5" since 1960.  I've got to think that basketball players would have grown as much, if not more.

It brings a very subjective element into evaluating, but heck, this whole thing is subjective.

Nice Pick!

I decided against making a stupid pick and had him pegged in at my pick at 4.8. Great pick.

Though I would've liked to see his bleached blonde hair in a picture.

Jason Kidd is a heck of a pick. Great pick. Kidd also has the size and strength to guard 2's as well as PG's, so it frees KC up to maybe pick up an undersized but explosive scorer here or there.
