Here's where I have trouble in this exercise. There are players from earlier years who held onto the ball a great deal of time, I don't know how they'd translate into a modern era.

For example, I have a hard time imagining Elgin Baylor with some of the more modern players and rules

Petitt and Ewing were both guys I wanted, Petitt really.

No problem with Hayes though.  Roy, since you brought up which year, here's a question to the panelists:  the fact that a player won the title in a certain year technically doesn't matter right?  I mean it's not like we're putting them with the same team they had that year.  I guess my real question is what matters more numbers (how they actually played) or awards?

I'll probably look at playoff performances a bit, but winning a title isn't an automatic amplifier.

I'm biased, but some - one in particular - undersized centers in the modern era who were certainly able to hold their own on the defensive end of things.

Based off that, I think its fair to assume that a modernized Bill Russell could play center in today's game.
certainly a fair point, but it isn't like the modern centers are the centers that are depicted in this game.  I mean Tyson Chandler, Joel Anthony, and Joakim Noah are essentially the starting centers still playing.  Not exactly the same thing as Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, etc.

I'll PM you who it is, cuz he hasn't been picked yet. But there's a very specific player I'm thinking of that would support my argument.

I have been picking seasons based on stats, but if the stats are close (even if slightly worse) I am taking the title and award winning season.  To me that says more then an extra point per game or an extra rebound.

I would say that that's pretty sound advice.

I think we all know who you're talking about, but yes, it's better not to name names.

Sorry at work but making my pick from my phone! I need a pure shooter and I will take one of the best movers without the ball and clutch player. Also he's one of our own!

Ray Allen!

I think he adds a tremendous dimension to this. Some may say its to early but good luck guarding my team!

I prefer to avoid confrontation. We'll sit this one out.

That is a tremendous amount of offense on that team!

I love Ray, and was wondering whether anybody might take him soon.  One of the purest shooters ever, and an amazing all-around athlete.

The thing I question is pairing Ray and Kobe.  I just don't like Kobe as much as a SF.
