Is Bahku all right? No posts isn't like him.

Was wondering the same thing...I PM'd him a while ago.

Thanks for the concern, guys! I apologize for missing my pick time ... I shattered one of my toes a couple of weeks ago, resulting in the compound fracture of two of the bones, and have been waiting for the swelling to go down and the antibiotics to reduce infection so I could have surgery on it. However, I woke up this morning to a purple foot and a BSI, (sepsis in the bloodstream), with a red streak running up my leg.

Needless to say I had to get to the hospital quickly for treatment, (heavy vanco. IV and immediate surgery), and had no time to leave messages or PM anyone. I'm doing fine and will be stuck with my foot in the air and bumping around on crutches for another week or so, (the benefit being a bit of forced vacation and the rather enjoyable side-effects of a Fentanyl patch).

________________________________________________________________

Anyway ... this was a really tough pick for me ... I've been thinking about it all day, (while waiting for the rather tedious hands of the hospital protocols to complete their processes), and by the time I finally got back home at 2AM, I was no closer to a decision than I was yesterday. I was strongly put upon to go with proven accomplishment and championship claims, and also pulled in the direction of one of my favorites and a home-town gem.

But in the end I had to turn my back on one of the best of the first half of the 20th Century, (who has a number of accomplishments attached to his name), and another favorite of mine who helped bring me some of my most cherished memories of the game, and go with a player who has not yet acquired all the stars on his resume that the others at his position have, but who is nonetheless one of the best ever at his spot, and who I feel would have been an amazing compliment to my team core in his prime, Michael Jordan, (so I'm going with chemistry strength, not awards).

Therefor, without boring anyone further than I already have, (man, this is a tough round ... so many great guys left, and I still feel torn about the three guys I'm passing over), with their second-round and twelfth position pick in the 2011 CB All-Time Historical Draft, (2.12), the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers select 6'11", 245-pound Center from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy ...

Bahku called 911 and they sent a toe truck.  (sorry, the pun was there, had to grab it).  Hope you're doing better.  a bad toe can throw the whole body off.

I'm still digesting how I feel about the Howard pick.  On one hand, he's the most dominant center of our current era.  On the other, I wonder how effective he's going to be scoring against the other centers in this draft.

Right now, I could go either way, and will stay open-minded until the argument stage.

That's the quandry I was in, especially over the other three guys I was considering ... in the end, I picked on the basis of who I thought would flourish more in a Michael Jordan-based team, and I think Howard would have completely complimented MJ, and vice-versa, even more so than my other options, (which I'll discuss after they're picked). Funny, I usually go with the "tried and true" guys of the past, (esp. where I'm an old fart), so this was  very contrary to my personality, and a step outside my comfort zone. But again, a Howard/Jordan combo really clicks for me ... power, athleticism, speed in-and-out, defensive priorities ... the more I think about it, the more I think it was the right way to go.

If Bill Cartwright can handle it I'm sure Dwight can.

I like the pick.  Jordon is the one guy you can get away with having a non-elite scorer at C.

He now adds a top notch defender in the middle.  A guy that can clean up with the attention Jordon pulls when he goes to the hoop.

I'll pile on and say I like the pick. Jordans going to command the ball, I like seeing him being paired with an elite defender, whose an athletic freak that finishes well at the rim. I say he's a perfect fit for a team building around Jordan.

And of course another big I thought I could've gotten this round. The CB Historical Draft Gods are talking to me, must pick.... another starter.

Bahku's got an interesting choice coming up here. In a perfect world, he'd be able to pick someone whose offense was a complement to both Howard's and MJ's, and a person whose ego allows them to both be a ridiculous competitor and at the same time not need the main stage, or get offended by having someone tell them what to do all the time (like MJ would).

Maybe a stretch 4 who is a great lockerroom guy but also a fierce competitor, who can also drain them from outside. There's a few of them.
