Well, I wiffed on not picking Popovich.

Rudy T. is still a fine coach.  I would prefer Pops, but you did fine.

Ha, ya can't be tooooo upset but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't just completely blank on Pop.

I mean really... Kobe 5th?  Maybe I don't get the rules of this game.  No offense to the guy who picked him 5th.  Kobe's a great player... but I'm not even sure in Kobe's best year I would have picked him to build a team around.  In his early  years I would have picked Shaq.  Later years I would have picked Bron.

In general you gotta pick a dominant big man to start unless it's Jordan.  I can understand picking Larry.  Other than that... I'd go point guard.

But look at the entire body of work, LarBrd33.

The owner that drafted Kobe has a fine team, indeed. Ray and Kobe are two prolific scorers, Stockton is one of the best PG's ever, and of course Stockton-to-Malone?

Hard to beat that.

And add Dikembe?

Every owner here did a fine job, in my estimation. One more week to round out the teams, too.

Swap out Kareem for Kobe... replace Dikembe with essentially any allstar shooting guard of the past 30 years... It beats that team ;)

But Larbrd in fairness to that owner you could IMO say that about 20-30 players in this particular game. This is a wide-open draft for ANY NBA player from like 1950's-on up.

So many great players to chose from, not to mention the current crop of NBA stars.

Dirk alone is playing out of his mind, for instance. Look at the team he is on in this draft.

Just so many potent options here.

Make plans to play next year :).

The Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers are extremely happy, (and shocked to see slide), to select for their coach and core, one of the few other people on the planet, (other than PJ), who can work this chemistry thing without losing the respect and trust of MJ ...

Gregg Popovich
.

:)

That's the guy I was shocked to see fall.  Very few coaches have four rings like Pop does.

Yeah, but five of those are Lakers rings, so they don't count.

I've got to say, there's one coach I'm shocked to see slide.

For his coach, Redz selects Tommy Heinsohn

Other coaches might have more rings, but no other coach has Tommy's fashion sense.

Deron and Sloan. I see chemistry issues.Plus how wll Sloan handle Gervin and his lack of D? ;D

Gervin played some pretty good D and remember There were no sloan Deron chemistry issues till this year, and I am not picking this year, so it is not relevent to this conversation

Gervin was actually noted for his lack of D.

Technically he has 10  :o Good choice Redz, my favorite coach.  Can I draft him as my announcer?

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

You quickly learn in this draft that it's all about personal preference.  Me personally, I think even Hakeem and Dr. J are, no question, better players than Kobe.  That's obviously not everyone's opinion.  It's impossible to compare players in different eras with any kind of certainty.

Roy and I both know he wouldn't have fallen past me if Phil hadn't dropped.

I know this is ridiculously far in the future but I might need some help with my pick(s) on Thursday.  Do the double rounds still start at 1?
