Would you trade Ray Allen+ Paul Pierce for Luol Deng and Taj Gibson?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Ray +Paul for Deng +Gibson, straight up. (maybe a few more pieces or a pick for the C's)
Puts Chicago in a good 2-3 year window as a serious contender with the Heat whilst giving us Chicago's best defender and their best big man off the bench. (Chicagos best unit is when the starting five is on minus boozer with Gibson in +/- wise.)
Deng is a defensive minded 3 guard and is KILLING it this year.
You're shipping Paul and Ray off to a contending team so it's not like you're spitting in their face.
BUT..
Biggest problem is that we could never beat this team for 2-3 years if the trade is made unless we got a killer shooting guard and a very solid center.
One of the biggest matchups for the year that I was anticipating was Pierce vs Deng in the ECF but we never got to see it.

Just a suggestion.
Would you make this trade?
If anything to me we could get even more than just these two right? I know they are highly valued by Chicago but would they sacrifice Deng and Gibson for these 2 guys who are proven pieces to a banner?

No.  Neither player is a building block.  If we're going to kill our chances in the short term, I'd want a can't miss type of guy who might be able to lead this team somewhere in the future.

No.  

Because assuming the numbers work (I didn't check), it locks up 25 million in those two guys.  Add that to Rondo's 12 million and a 6-7 million dollar deal for Green, and we possibly don't have any more room to add anyone else depending on where the cap goes.  

Can't lock up that much space long term to guys that don't guarantee us bigger production.

You don't consider Deng a building block? He's the 2nd best player on the ECF team.
I guess it will depend on how he handles Lebron in the ECF.
Seems like one of the best options as far as replacing Pierce for the long term is concerned.
Although the money is huge which I didn't consider.
