I think Rondo's value might have dropped after this season. His stock has fallen with me at the very least. Since his rookie season he's jumped leaps and bounds in his development every year, but that didn't happen this season. He came in with more confidence, but he didn't become a better scorer, passer, or shooter. I think he got a lot of credit for his impressive assist totals early, but IMO that was from overpassing and playing with 4 great finishers. Right now I just hope he hasn't peaked and that injuries really were what slowed him down at the end of the season because he's been real unimpressive the last few months. I'm comfortable with him in his role as of now, but I'm scared of a future where he'll have to be more of a scorer.
People are *really* undervaluing his passing. This isn't 2008, and if Rondo was playing with such great finishers we'd still be playing. Before his injuries he was leading the league in assists by a wide margin. That seems to be a reasonable improvement form the previous year.
more importantly if Rondo was playing (healthily) with the finishers we have now we could easily still be playing.
I agree about his passing. it is by far the most important skill for a PG and Rondo is an elite passer.
If you're going to give me a player who can pass as well as Rondo, I'll listen. but I don't want to hear about any PGs who are lesser passers.
the fact is, around the league, I think people undervalue Rondo based on his shooting woes. So I really don't see Danny getting equal value for him...which is fine by me based on his passing, defense, and intangibles...
we do need a starting center however...no idea how Danny is gonna make that happen.
