we don't really have enough room for another guard.

Why?  We only have 2 wings signed through next year (Pierce and Ray).  Green could very possibly walk, and who knows what will happen with West and Wafer.  This team is not set at any position going forward other than perhaps PG (and they could still use a reliable backup).  They are really in a position where they should be looking at best player available.
We need a big man badly.

We have so many free agents to deal with that our best bet is to find someone who can play immediately regardless of his position.

Oh, of course, but when it comes to picking late in the draft, beggers can't be choosers.  I would much rather have a quality wing than a big man who will be out of the league in 3 years.

The chance of finding a quality big man that late in the draft are very slim.  It happens, but not very often.  So, if there is a big man that they think will be a very good player, by all means, go for it, but if they think the best player there is a wing, then they need to draft them, and address their need for big men by getting a guy who already has a body of work in the NBA via free agency or trade.

Teams that use the draft to fill holes rarely end up happy with it.

I like Brooks, but i really doubt he's going to be available at 25. He's too good of a scorer, seems to have a very competitive attitude and killer instinct. If we could get this kid I would love it, because although he's a four year senior he could make a impact with a few years in the league. He has the potential to be a really good defender as well, and his offensive moves remind a lot scouts of some guy named Kobe. No way he's available at 25.

If we drafted this kid I would be very excited, he seems like he's going to be a Jamal Crawford type of player but seems willing to play defense.

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of scouts + GMs have been very impressed with Brooks.

It looks like he is going to be moving up the draft board. Too bad, he sounds very interesting.

Yeah it's too bad.  2 weeks ago he was projected as mid 2nd round, now it looks like he'll be picked just before us.  Hey may still slip, hopefully Burks or Thompson drop a little and help those teams that need help at the off guard position.

I have never questioned his size, I only question how his game will transfer over to the NBA.
He'll do fine.  i watched him for 4 years as well and he's the real deal.  he just needs to land on the right team with the right coach.  he'll be around in the NBA for years with a solid career.
