Shaq's a GO for Game 3*

*Barring unforeseen circumstances

“He told me he was going to play,” Rivers said. “(Trainer) Eddie (Lacerte) thought he would play. I do expect him to play. If he didn’t, it would be because something went wrong in practice (on Friday). But right now I expect him to play.

“We’re not going to let him do too much. But, again, before someone asks ‘How much is too much?’ – how the hell do I know? Walking to the floor could be too much, who knows.”

As for O’Neal’s impact. Rivers said: “He’ll be big, I do know that.”

Yeah, there's a lot of wiggle room in that, isn't there?

All I know is... right now, Shaq's in.  And not a moment too soon.  I'll take 10 minutes right now.

As for what it means?  It means another enforcer in the game to make sure guys think twice about going to the rim.  And it means a little better spacing on offense.  Ray Allen might be the biggest beneficiary with the picks Shaq will set.  Rondo's a close second... with the space that Shaq will eat up.  The impact should be noticeable.

Thanks for Post!

At this point, if he could hobble out there on a cane and just stand on the court I'll be happy.

But seriously I hope the Big Fella is ready.

It is a LOT of wiggle room. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Is this really much different from what we have heard before?  Shaq will play unless he doesn't respond well to practice tomorrow.

So do you start Shaq or bring him off the bench?

Based on Spoelstra's comments, I would expect him to bring Dampier into the game off the bench instead of Joel Anthony to matchup against Shaq should Shaq be used as a reserve.

Off the bench. It sounds silly but the crowd will go crazy for Shaq and the 2nd unit could feed off of that.

Also, if Shaq coming back means that we will see Dampier in this series...well thats a win win. Anthony has been very active in this series on D. Dampier is well...less active.

Personally, I would start him in the hopes that it would help ignite the offense with the starters, and get them in a rhythm, but I think he will be brought off the bench.

I think you start him. He should play immediately after pre-game warm-ups.

The energy level in the building at the start of the game would be tremendous. Would help to set the tone.

Doc said earlier that Shaq would come off the bench.

I will say this, if Shaq does in fact play (and that is still a big "if" IMO), it could be exactly what this team needs to return their swagger.

If I were to caption this, and if the Celticsblog Forum rules allowed for it I would quote a popular Ludacris song. However, the rules strictly prohibit swearing so I will not be captioning this photo today.

BTW: I've completely abandoned logic, and am totally buying into this. If/When he can't go, I'm going to have to destroy something of little financial value .

What? Why?   Because it will insult Jermaine? My gosh Doc start him. The starters have excelled playing with Shaq and it will energize the crowd.

Shaq can play the first 6 minutes of every quarter and Jermaine can finish the other 9. Get Davis out of the center rotation it is totally useless.  Jermaine has been playing about 8 minutes before Davis has been subbing in for him. Does it matter if Jermaine plays at the start or to finish of the quarters?

Besides when Kristic was starting during the regular season Jermaine and Green and Jermaine and Davis had a nice rhythm going when on the court together.

I Hate Docs rotations
