That's the only way Celtics will beat the Heat is to ditch Glen Davis and play Jeff Green. Wasn't that the reason they got him in the first place to space the floor and add versatility to the lineup.

Defensively Doc needs to also mix up his coverages throw some zone in there, and at times Switch on the Pick&Rolls.  Give them different look make Miami adjust to us. On offense spread them out. Put 4 shooters Pierce, Ray, KG, and Green on the floor and let Rondo operate. Spread out the Miami Heat Defense.

Green CANNOT play the 4.  Do you remember what Carlos Boozer did to him in the post?  Chris Bosh would destroy him

Jeff Green was a 4 the whole time in Oklahoma. What in few months he forgot how to guard the 4? Jeff Green is much better PF than James Posey EVER EVER was. Miami Heat don't have a low-post threat. Green will be more than fine.

I completely agree. But this would involve more coaching creatively than Doc generally shows. Green isn't one of his guys. Baby is.

Joel Anthony would not.

Jeff Green can be used as a PF when J.Anthony is on the floor. Leave KG or Jermaine out there with him to defend Bosh. Green can also be used as a PF when Miami use small ball lineups.

It is a legitimate option.

Stop blaming Baby.  The blame goes to Doc for playing him when JO should have been in the game.  Baby doesn't put himself in the game.

I'm going to need to sleep on this so I can calm down a little, but that was one miserably coached game out of Doc Rivers.

BBD is something like -35 over his past two games (while JO is +2, I think.)

Don't forget he had the worst plus/minus out of everyone in the first round as well. In fact, it wasn't even close.

Agreed -- BBD getting too much of the blame and Doc isn't getting enough of it.

Not for BBD's recent minutes or for how Doc ran BBD down by playing too many minutes during the regular season.

All of that is not Baby´s fault, I agree. However, it´s the playoffs, and it would be nice to see his shots go in, from time to time, especially if he´s posting up Joel Anthony.

Baby was always clutch. Even if he had a bad game, you could count on him to be ready for the last few minutes. I haven´t seen that trait too often, recently.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Nonsense.

Name me the time and place of Davis' last assist.

You can't.

Davis is a McHale-style black hole when he touches the basketball - it goes up, not out. Difference is, he stinks scoring the basketball.

He's got no business on the floor in crunch time, and when he starts shooting the team out of a game - as he's done repeatedly in the last six weeks - that's on Rivers.

Some of the worst coaching of Rivers' tenure in Boston. Absolutely inexcusable to leave Davis on the floor.

Babys confidence is low right now. He is overmatched playing Center or backup power forward vs the Heat. Bosh, Lebron and Wade just jump right over top of him.

Is it possible his knee still isnt right? He seems to have no lift.

Doc was on the right track when early in the fourth he had Deltone,Pierce,Baby,Green and KG on the floor. Let Baby play the three and pound the boards with a bigger lineup. Pierce can play the two and frankly cant do any worse than Delonte or Ray defending Wade.

Make the Heat react to our mismatches and not vice versa. Docs substitutions lack creavtivity.

Seriously?

Davis can't defend athletes, period - at the three or the four. The box out has become as foreign to him as passing out of a double-team.

He needs to sit. Period. He isn't contributing positively on either end of the floor.

Big Baby is not the whole issue but he is one of them. I don't see Doc decreasing BBD minutes but he could give some of the minutes to Troy Murphy, not the best of options but worse case scenario he's as bad as BBD.

Davis played 26 minutes tonight, so maybe you cut that to 16 or so and give 10 to Troy or 5 to Troy and 5 to Jeff Green. This isn't the end of the world and the Celtics can turn this around and win the series but it won't be easy for them and some hard decisions have to be made.

Celtics can still win this, like I said, all they have to do is try to take Wade and/or LeBron out of the game (not literally just d-up on them and make them take hard shots) like they did before. The Heats have no real bench honestly and Bosh is not going win by himself.

If he sits who do you sub in for Jermaine? Green.  A lineup of KG,Green,Pierce,Ray,Rondo is too weak on the interior. We are already losing the rebounding battle 44-38 tonight.

They are very fast on their rotations on the perimeter. The only thing that is going to help is going to a bigger lineup with Shaq or putting Pierce at the two with either KG,JO,Green or KG,JO,Baby in the frontcourt.

We are not big enough in the paint.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
BBD seems to work best in small doses. I couldn't wait for him to get off the floor tonight and by time he was, the game was all but over. JO is sitting on the bench for far too long and BBD is flopping to the floor every 2 trips down the court or laying up bricks. It would be nice to see JO and Shaq switching back and forth and seeing BBD playing spot minutes. We can't see Baby for 7 minute stretches at a time. After awhile it gets too much like it's 5 on 4. I think when we see Baby as long as we seen him tonight, it's gonna be a guaranteed loss. Doc needs to try something new for sure. This rotation is not working. He needs to realize it and adjust. Baby looked better in the playoffs the last 2 years. This year except for a play or two here and there, he is just sucking bad.
