Maybe they don't need Rudy Gay after all....

wrong. Rudy Gay makes them scarier. He won the Grizzlies a lot of games before he went down.

He would kill ball movement and take touches away from the guys in the paint, though.  He's also nowhere near the defenders that Battier / TA are.

Westbrook brought a spark.  I guess it would have been hard to play worse than the Thunder did with Maynor in there.

Z-Bo is great, but it's telling that Memphis' run stops once Marc goes out.

Ok...I'm officially going to stop giving LA grief about that supposedly one-sided trade for Pau a few years ago.

Marc has developed into a bonafide top 10 center...top 5, even.

Dwight-Bynum-Tyson...Marc??

Dwight - Bynum - Duncan - Big Al - Bogut - Nene - Horford - Gasol - Lopez - Chandler

There's your top 10.

Big Al?

Or Duncan...I'd slide him down to towards ten right now.

The Grizzlies needed that one.

Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Randolph's D is underrated, but he can't defend Durant.

Shane Battier is such a difference maker. I LOVE the way The Grizzlies are so dedicated at getting the ball in the paint.

He would kill ball movement and take touches away from the guys in the paint, though.  He's also nowhere near the defenders that Battier / TA are.

I do agree that he would kill ball movement. If anything, it's better that they now have Zach as the focal point of the offense 99% of the time.

Rudy was the best isolation defender in the league according to Synergy before he went down, though. He's a sick defender.

He doesn't have the same team-defense effect that TA and Battier have, though.

I agree. But Defensively the guy that is offensively challenged will always compete harder than the guy that knows he's responsible for a large chunk of the team offense.

Pos - good point. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Rudy Gay is certainly a fine player..top 6 or 7 SF. But the way MEM is playing right now is descriptive of how different MEM is with the offense going through Z and Marc vice Z and Rudy.
