Maybe they don't need Rudy Gay after all....

I love Rudy, but I think MEM is a slightly better team defensively without him.

TA has been mostly played well as a starter.

For two series now, Memphis just seems to counter anything thrown at them.

Notice that Perkins is getting killed by mobile big men Zachary Randolph and Marc Gasol?

OKC has actually been okay with Perk in there, only getting outscored by 1.  The bigger issue has been when Perk has been on the bench (-12).

Awesome stat with Perk walking down the floor on defense quite a few times in the 3rd.

Broadcasters have been making a mistake by saying this team got better when Rudy went down. The team started horribly and then Hollins had the guts to send OJ to the bench, but started Sam Young instead of TA. The Grizz righted the ship and were something like 31-25 when Rudy went down. If Hollins had played Rudy and TA together this team would not have been the 8 seed.

Ok...I'm officially going to stop giving LA grief about that supposedly one-sided trade for Pau a few years ago.

Marc has developed into a bonafide top 10 center...top 5, even.

Dwight-Bynum-Tyson...Marc??

Dwight - Bynum - Duncan - Big Al - Bogut - Nene - Horford - Gasol - Lopez - Chandler

There's your top 10.

The Grizzlies have the best bench in the playoffs. Yes, better than Chicago.

Would rather have Gasol than Al, Bogut, Nene and Horford.

I just think it's hard to blame Perk's defense, when the Thunder are getting blown out when he's on the bench but are playing even when he's in the game.

That doesn't mean that Perk has been great, but it does mean that he's not the reason they're losing by this margin.

wrong. Rudy Gay makes them scarier. He won the Grizzlies a lot of games before he went down.

Vasquez is a problem for OKC's undersized backup point guards.

I'd like to see OKC play Russell Westbrook in the second unit and give Maynor some time against Conley.

Yes.  He's a center, regardless of what position he's been put at sometimes.  Despite his defensive struggles, I'd still rather have him than most centers in the league.

I disagree that Marc is better than Al, and Bogut, even right now.  If he can continue to play the way he has in this post-season, he could be better than Nene and Horford.  Based on regular season production, though (which is a larger sample), I have to say those other guys are better.

And that's only 9 deep.  Add in Leon, plus Young if Gay was healthy, and the rookie definitely has some potential as well.  Truly nasty team.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
