And now with Lee Smith another big guy for the offense.

Lee Smith and big in the same sentence I can only think of Lee Arthur Smith and his slow walk from the bullpen to close out games.

Completely off topic, but.....The Pats drafted a very good running back in Shane Vereen. I have been a follower of CAL football for quite some time now and Pats fans are going to love this guy. At some point, CAL coaches were pondering whether to redshirt Jahvid Best, but went with Shane. Jeff Tedford really liked this guy.

Good luck, Shane Vereen and the Pats. I hope there won't be a lock-out.

Ryan Mallet is a 6'7" Drew Bledsoe.

Drew probably had other attributes over him, but I think this kid is more driven and may have demonstrated already that he'll be quicker with his reads.  (Probably no faster running, however.)

If that's the case, the Pats got a HUGE steal.  Bledsoe may not be Brady, but I would take him over about 20-25 of the starting QBs in the league right now.  He was a big part of the revival of this franchise, and was one of the best in the league for a few years there.

Fair point.  (And I think he may have the potential to be better than Drew.)
