I agree there are better prospects but I think he is a low risk pick. Definetly not a guy with much potential to be a star or even a starter but a good defender who can hit the 3 = a poor mans bruce bowen. not a back bench option on a good team
How is he a low risk pick? I understand he has potential to be a good defender, but I think anyone with a marginal skillset like his is high-risk.
Particularly in such a weak draft, I think there are not many low-risk picks outside of the lottery (and even in the lottery). Basically, all of these guys are going to be longshots to even be on a roster in 5 years, let alone be a rotation player.
I think they lowest risk picks (at least later in the first round) are guys like Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler. Guys who have a long resume of success at a high level program, who can play on both ends of the court and be productive. You can feel pretty confident that they won't be stars, but just as confident they won't be complete busts.
Anyone who has a one dimensional game, or has failed to produce in college is a huge risk to bust, and that is the category I put Liggins in.
He is much more of a late second rounder IMO than a late first rounder.
As for the C's, I would much rather they get a little more wild with their first round pick. Given their lack of young talent, and how weak this draft is, it will be a good opportunity to take a shot at a high risk, high reward player like Jeremy Tyler or maybe Tyler Honeycut.
