I was reading about the kentucky players who are putting there names in the draft. Liggins is not hiring an agent and trying to see if he can get a first round guarentee or he will go back to school.

He isnt a sexy pick with a lot of potential and he only averaged 8 pts a game this past year, however I dont think it would not be a terrible option for the Cs to lock him in this year.

He is 6'6 and is a great defender who can guard all 3 perimeter postions and has some point guard skills (was viewed as a point forward/pg out of high school). Kemba walker was very impressed with his D in the finals. The Cs could develop him in the bruce bowen mold and use him as a nice wing defender of the bench and maybe a marquis daniels style 2nd unit pg.

There are way too many better players to give him a first round promise.  I might take him late in the second round but that it's it.  Also, he's already 23 years old.  Offensively, all he really does is shoot the 3 ball.  There will be much better options for this team at the end of the first round.

I agree there are better prospects but I think he is a low risk pick. Definetly not a guy with much potential to be a star or even a starter but a good defender who can hit the 3 = a poor mans bruce bowen. not a back bench option on a good team

He is low risk to some extent because you know exactly what you're getting.  In terms of the talent that you're getting he's high risk though.  He simply isn't first round talent.  There will be guys who are much better options.  A guy like Marshon Brooks whose defense was close to being as good as Liggins, but averaged 25 a game on 48% shooting would be a much better option.  In the second round, there will be multiple guys who can play defense and knock down the outside shot.  With our first round pick, we need to attempt to find somebody that will help extend our window.  Even if it means taking a high risk-high reward guy.  Liggins is low risk, but he's also low reward.  He doesn't have enough potential or NBA skills at the moment to justify taking in the first round.

Better than JR Giddens, but not worth a two year guaranteed contract

How is he a low risk pick?  I understand he has potential to be a good defender, but I think anyone with a marginal skillset like his is high-risk.

Particularly in such a weak draft, I think there are not many low-risk picks outside of the lottery (and even in the lottery).  Basically, all of these guys are going to be longshots to even be on a roster in 5 years, let alone be a rotation player.

I think they lowest risk picks (at least later in the first round) are guys like Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler.  Guys who have a long resume of success at a high level program, who can play on both ends of the court and be productive.  You can feel pretty confident that they won't be stars, but just as confident they won't be complete busts.

Anyone who has a one dimensional game, or has failed to produce in college is a huge risk to bust, and that is the category I put Liggins in.

He is much more of a late second rounder IMO than a late first rounder.

As for the C's, I would much rather they get a little more wild with their first round pick.  Given their lack of young talent, and how weak this draft is, it will be a good opportunity to take a shot at a high risk, high reward player like Jeremy Tyler or maybe Tyler Honeycut.

Liggins is a very, very poor man's version of Tony Allen.

Not worth a pick.  This guy is going nowhere in the pros.  Plays good defense against other college kids, but no shot, really very little offensive game.

He is staying in the draft after having there kentucky pro day. Not sure if the Cs had people there but someone must have given him positive feed back about getting drafted in the first round

I don't think so.  Calipari urged him to stay at Kentucky as I'm guessing the feedback which he received wasn't too good.  He's leaving because he was going to lose his starting spot to an improved Doron Lamb and Michael Gilchrist and he has a new born baby and needs money.  Also, about a month ago his name was in many mock drafts in the second round, he's been removed from them all together now.  He'll be in Europe next year.

Liggins isn't worthy of a first round pick, but if he's still on the board when our pick rolls up I'd be in favor of taking him. He can defend three positions, solid ball handling, and has three point range. He reminds me at times of Tony Allen and Ronnie Brewer.
