The title of this thread reminds me of the South Park episode where they were singing "Getting gay with kids is here!"   and they offered to sing it to the Columbian general and he was like "No. We will not be getting gay with kids"

Seriously.  You give Nenad some love.    :D

No. But honestly. I know it's negative but this thread is perfect evidence to me of how horrid this trade was.  oooohhhh wooowww.....4 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks.  Let's give some love!

That's what we're reduced to.  That's now a great line for a Celts forward not named KG or Pierce.

Isn't that what Perk's averaging as a starter?  And Perk's not even getting 2 blocks per game.

Oh, but think. He's only had a couple months to learn the totally complicated Thunder system! Once he gets a full training camp under himself he'll be way better

I like Krstic playing 10 minutes or so a night.  Anything more than that and his value really drops.
do it

I agree.  I think he is very valuable as extra size and fouls off the bench, but if he is being asked to be much more than that, then it is not a good thing.

Luckily, even if Shaq doesn't come back, if JO can give us 30 minutes per game (which is looking more and more likely), we don't need much more than 10 minutes from Nenad.

But, in an ideal world, he is the 3rd center insurance policy.

nenad is slowly becoming a better defender. his range is decent and he proved last night that he can block shots. I dont mind him being our 2 or 3 center in the future

Kristic is a young, big, highly skilled center, who was a double-double machine before he was set back with injuries.

Not to bring too much reality to this thread, but Krstic had three double-doubles in 71 games this year.
In 20 minutes per game.  Hey Mr. Reality, how many would he have if he played 40 mins as a starter?

So he's a projected "double double machine"?  That's the phrase you used, so I figured that Krstic's performance regarding actually getting double-doubles was relevant.

Kristic was having a lot of double-doubles in New Jersey before a Knee injury set him back for a long time.  In Oklahoma last year he was "projecting" double-doubles in limited minutes competing for time with Ibaka.  This year same story in Oklahoma and Boston.
It seems that people's expectations are way off base for someone who comes off the bench to play as little time as Kristic does.  I'm willing to bet on a per-minute basis his performance is easily the best 9th man (10th if Shaq is playing) in the league.  In fact, it's probably better than a lot of starters out there.

I don't know, man.  I think it's weird to criticize people for having unrealistic expectations, when you over-exaggerated Krstic's production.

If you want to argue that Krstic is a good 9th / 10th man, that's fine.  Calling him a "double double machine" is not.  He isn't now, and he hasn't ever been.  He has 36 double doubles in 419 career games, and his career high for double doubles in a season is 12.

So, yes, I agree he's a competent 9th / 10th man.  Anything above that is probably an exaggeration.

I dont quite understand the Nenad hate here...the guy is a starter in this league, and someone like the Heat would LOVE to him as their 1st/2nd center let alone 3rd string center.

if we have shaq back, he replaces semih erden....and Nenad>>semih

You're right.  I didn't look accurately at his stats.  However, I wasn't too far off.  Before his injury he was averaging 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds in 32 min. That's his potential when healthy and comfortable within a system, and he was only 25.  He has much more experience and closer to his prime now.  That is an excellent player to have especially in a time without too many quality 7 footers.

I just love what passes for great contributions when it comes to Nenad Krstic and Jeff Green. Hysterical. I so hope someone dangles a decent contract in front of Krstic so he is gone at the end of this season. The addition by subtraction that OKC has realized by dumping these two guys is amazing.

I think the OP is justified by the fact, that Nenad has gotten his share of grief by the bloggers here and actually had a decent game 4. If we were to believe some of the comments, he should be absolutely worthless. Instead he gave us 7 quality minutes in which the Celtics were +5, much due to his contribution.

Same numbers as Perk but in less time.  Yeah Perk was tougher and more intimidating, but Kristic has a much superior offensive game.  Kristic will improve playing with the Celtics, just like Perk did.

Yup, that's a lot of it. Mostly, though, I was just surprised by the complete negativity after a sweep. Yes, the Knicks were banged up and we SHOULD beat them, but it was refreshing and, by all accounts, encouraging to see all of those positives.

The bench has caught a lot of flack (an appalling amount) - West still hasn't broken out, Green's play has been debated (although I think he's been perfectly fine) and people want to say BBD and Nenad are the worst players of all time. Yet, when Baby and Nenad put together two very solid efforts, nobody really points it out - I figured I'd try to be that guy to remind Celtic Nation that it can support its players too, and not just hammer them when they have a couple off-days. Yes, the stat-line isn't going to draw comparisons to Bill Russell, but you really can't ask for more in 7 minutes.

Let's perk up a bit, CelticsBlog - things are looking good and we've got another week to rest up, get healthy and work on kinks in practice.
