I know a lot of us are tired of not being able to discuss Perkins' play without having it turn into yet another discussion of The Trade.  We all became very attached to Perkins when he was here, and many of us still cheer for him even though he is no longer wearing green.  So, that is what this thread is for.  Use this thread to talk about how Perkins is playing in his mission to bring the championship to OKC.

And again, let me reiterate, this is not a thread to discuss the trade.  It is meant for discussion of Perkins play on the OKC Thunder ONLY.

It was great to see that Ray Allen wasn't the only player tied to the Celtics to have a game-winner last night.  Perk with the clutch rebound and putback!  ;D

Nene is a tough matchup for Perk.

Too mobile, too many PnRs, transition opportunities, cuts, midrange jump shots and the odd face up and drive. Perk will do well in low post situations but all those other types of baskets are firmly to Nene's advantage.

Serge Ibaka's help defense is going to be the key to keeping Nene in check. Not Perk.

Although, Perk can still have a big impact with his team defense + rebounding.

All of this is true.  It was a bit embarrasing the way Nene came out and kept taking it right to Perk for dunks.  Several of those early plays were in the post.

Mobility and quickness in a big guy is a tremendous asset.

I hope Perk helps get OKC to the finals--where they lose to the C's.

I dont think blatantly illegal scores, should be called "clutch" =/  I don't know the rules about what can or cant be replayed, but I couldn't believe they blew that call.

I knew as soon as I saw it, the ball was still on the cylinder. Relay just made it more obvious.  If I was a denver player, that loss would be REAL hard to swallow right now.

It's not a crime if he didn't get caught.  8)

Perk just wanted to make sure that nobody could accuse him of being too slow to "gather" putbacks.

I watched some of the first quarter of this game, then off to work (I live in Shanghai, and spent my morning "working" and watching a little of the playoffs).

Nene had his way with Perk in the sequences I watched.  No knock against Perk...Nene is quick, and I think Perk is better against the big, strong Bynum/Howard types.

Interesting to see he was on the floor during crunch time - good for him.

I know at the half he had played 5 minutes and had 0 pts, 0 reb, and 3 fouls. He finished with 2 pts, 2 reb, in 19 minutes.

Unfortunately it's hard for us to discuss his play against Nene (who is a great player). Hopefully OKC moves on to the next round and we see fewer more of Perk. If I'm correct, he would match up against either Marc Gasol or Tim Duncan. Still tough matchups, but maybe it will give him a chance to display his skills.

Shouldn't he be able to display his skills vs Nene ? Or any other pjayer ? He's getting paid 8/9 M per to perform going forward.

Right now, he's looking like it's tough for him to get down the court by the 12 second mark left on the shot clock. He might as well just stay down on the def side of the court.
