Indy fans should feel really good about the potential their team is showing out there, though. Collison / George / Granger / Hansbrough / Hibbert is a young, talented starting 5 you can count on moving forward
Paul George has a lot of untapped potential.

The rest of those guys I wonder about. They could be close to what they are going to be.

Good news for them is that a rookie, a second year player, a 3rd year player and a 4th year player are playing even with the best team in the league on the road.  Hopefully adding experience gets them over the hump....

Yes, but the bad news is that Collison, Hibbert and Hansbrough played 4 years of college basketball and Rush played 3 years of college basketball. Even AJ Price has 4 years of college experience. Even Granger played 4 years of college basketball!

I think George is the one from whom you can expect steady improvement over the next few years.

Rose free throw count has gotta be at about 35 after the first 2 games.
LeBron don't even have that many free-throws. Heck LeBron hasn't even cracked the 20 free-throw attempts yet.

yeah good point.  Also too bad Tyler H. isn't a bit taller.  They'll need some bigger bigs for the bench or one to start in Hansbrough's place.....I love the guy's energy.

Howard played 48 minutes (33 pts, 19 rebs) tonight...

If Kobe plays hero-ball, is this considered superhero-ball? He is going to be one tired dude, if that's the way the Magic are going to beat the Hawks.

Granger played 4 years of college basketball and then improved by leaps and bounds every year he's been in the league until he made All-Star.

I think Hansbrough still has room to grow as well as Collison.  Hibbert has so many physical tools theres no way he's reached his peak quite yet, either.  That's not even taking into account the fact that they've yet to play a full year together, either.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I was just looking at the substitution chart for the Atlanta-Orlando game ... and wow, what the heck happened there!

Al Horford picked up two early fouls right at the beginning of the first quarter (first two minutes of the first quarter) ... and his coach responded by benching him for the rest of the first half. Not the rest of the quarter. The whole half. He didn't bring back Horford until the third quarter. Because of two quick fouls.

No wonder the Hawks fell apart in that second period. I mean, look at some of those lineups they were using. They had Hinrich + Crawford + D.Wilkins + Marvin + J.Powell out there against Orlando's starting five at one point. Then they finished the first half, final six minutes, with Hilton Armstrong against Dwight Howard and got pummeled to end the half (-9 in those six minutes).

They turned a 10 point lead into a 6 point deficit in the just nine minutes in that 2nd quarter.

Why in the world did Larry Drew keep Al Horford glued to the bench? All of this is happening right in front of him and he doesn't put Horford back in? What the heck?

By the way, Horford finished the game with only 2 fouls. Only 26 minutes (10pts, 10rbs).

Atlanta played Orlando even in the second half and were up 6 at the end of the first. It was that disastrous second quarter that killed them. With Horford glued to the bench unnecessarily the whole time.

Awful

Larry Drew is getting killed all over the NBA press for this, and rightfully so.

looking forward to see how Spurs and Lakers bounce back today

nice to see Aaron Gray who was huge in NO win will most likely suit up

Quote
LOS ANGELES - After participating in Wednesday morning’s shootaround, backup center Aaron Gray said he will play against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.

Gray suffered a sprained right ankle in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 109-100 Game 1 victory after he made all five shots and scored a season-high 12 points.

Forced to walk in a protective boot, Gray missed the previous two practices but took some shots around the basket Tuesday. Gray said he got in some physical play against Emeka Okafor in the post to test his ankle and went through drills with his teammates during the shootaround.

"Definitely, 100 percent I will be on the court,’’ Gray said. “I’m excited to get out there and compete with my teammates.’’

At the shootaround, Gray wore an ankle brace, but he showed no sign of problems.
However, Coach Monty Williams said Gray's status won’t be decided until game time and the Hornets still list him as questionable.

"He's putting the ball up a little bit, but nothing like he would see in an NBA game,'' Williams said. "But we were encouraged to see him on the floor and see him around the basket.''

I don't see how more college ball experience means that they've reached their peaks as NBA players. To me, it just means they've been in college longer. Either way, college ball is nothing like the NBA.

my guess is no matter what Stern will not allow the Lakers to go down 0-2 look for NO to be in early foul trouble ::)

wait, can Joey Crawford call back-to-back games? I would be frightened if I was New Orleans...

Seriously, Chris Paul is the biggest baller in the league, but he's still recovering from injury, and it will be hard for him to perform like he did in game 1.

But it's great to see the Lakers trailing... hehehe

Go Hornets!!
