Danny is the King when it comes to doublespeak. Danny for President -- he'd fit perfectly.

Yeah pretty much.  And as a GM, that is a huge requirement for the job.  I just wish more people would realize this instead of reading into every thing he says...and this goes double for the "journalists" who are the ones who really cause the problem.  They always either portray the quote as being much stronger than it was meant to be, in order to support the headline, or they completely take it out of context.

I think people also need to use a little common sense with this as well.  Particularly with this injury, how could they possibly know, with any certainty that Shaq would be back on Sunday?  He has not had a real practice.  He has been out for 3 months minus the 1 game he reinjured himself in.  And the ongoing theme throughout the time he was out was that his status was changing day by day, and he kept being pushed back.

I really think people are just hearing what they want to hear, and ignoring the actual words and context which clearly say "we don't really know"

I just wish they'd take a Belichickian "He'll be ready when he's ready" approach.

It's like a joke out of Naked Gun, "There's a 50% chance he'll be ready for Game 1, but there's only a 10% chance of that."

The one thing that's going to p--- me off to no end is if the C's get knocked out and we hear about "Well, Shaq was injured" being used as an excuse.  Shaq's still injured after how many weeks, but Perk's playing.

so basically he's just all over the place...."every confidence" is the one that makes me mad...

Why does it make you mad?  He is just stating his opinion.  And I don't think he is all over the place.  He has just been saying the same thing, but in different words.  Their plan is for him to practice this week, and return on Sunday, but they don't really know for sure whether he will be ready.

because "every confidence" leads you to believe that he's going to be out there...but then the day comes and he's not....again and again...

I understand *why* Danny feels like he has to say these things...  but at a certain point, it sure feels like he's questioning my intelligence as a fan.  I *know* Shaq's not well.  We've *known* that there's a big risk Shaq is a marginal contributor, at best, in the playoffs.  Don't insult me by pretending that everything is hunky-dory.

The problem is, the only reason Belichick gets away with that is because he won a championship his second year here (right?  or was it his first?), and established himself as the best in the game within a year or two after that.  So, basically, he can say anything he wants, and he will get close to a free pass.

However, if anyone else pulls that in this city they get absolutely torn apart by the press.

Basically, he is darned if he does, and darned if he doesn't.

Honestly, I don't think those comments are made towards you.  They are not made for the die hards, who know what is going on and who can read between the lines.  They are made for the casual fans, to keep them from getting too worried, because those are the fans that really bring in the money.

I'm hearing Larry Bird and Bill Russell are questionable for this game too. I heard it from Danny Ainge.

Danny says I'll be ready for my open age ball game on the weekend but doc says I couldn't be bothered training. So if I get up off my couch and drive to the game they'll evaluate me if I show up for shoot around come sunday.

Injury reports are overrated.

Support the team you have, never mind about the ifs or buts.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?
