Ugh so at first Danny says he'll be ready for the playoffs and Doc says he's actually feeling better and great, now he's questionable? I would not be surprised at all if we drop the first game with Turiaf abusing JO

The only other Celtic not to participate in the shoot-around was Shaquille O'Neal, who is still nursing a strained right calf injury suffered against Detroit on April 3.

Both players are questionable for Boston's Game 1 playoff matchup against New York, a game that's likely to be played on Sunday.

I don't think he was ever not questionable.

Danny said that he would practice on Friday and Saturday (or was it thursday and Friday?), then they would evaluate him, and that he was confident he would play in the playoffs.  He never said he would definitely be ready for game 1.

Uh, why would Turiaf abuse JO or even Glen Davis. Turiaf is a guy both match up with well.

I don't like Shaq being listed as questionable, but I'm not surprised. Based on Danny's statements it sounds like they are going to use practice and shoot around to evaluate him.

I would have been surprised if Shaq played in game 1. My guess is that he and Delonte wont be needed until round 2 anyway - or perhaps in the second half of the 1st round.

i think at this point its safe to say they're just screwing with us.

I mean it shouldn't happen but just wouldn't even surprise me anymore and not really abuse but I just mean outworked and hustled he's got a lot of energy. I thought on Shaq all indications were he's feeling good and should play. I guess if we need Shaq to get by the Knicks we aren't deserving of advancing anyway.

I still dont really agree with this though Shaq has got to play in round 1 for going forward

Shaq will be questionable for each and every game.  He can't be relied upon at all and that is going to be a major problem, although i think we get past round one without him assuming the big 3 don't falter.
IMO his injury is a little more than we are being let in on and his legs are going to be a problem throughout the playoffs, I see the celts. resting him in non-essential games throughout the playoffs, that is probably the best we can hope for really.

I agree with the savings plan , I believe they won't bring Shaq back till the chips are really down in the first round possibly. Let KG and Krstic/Jo handle NY  .

Doc wants to save every ounce of Shaq ( ATOMIC BOMB) ;D for duty against the BULLs or Heat ...and hopefully have something left in the tank for LA or Tim Duncan .

I like this plan as well.

I agree with bot of you it would be nice to have everyone out there healthy rolling and clicking together.

However...we don't have to have them for this series for us to win.

I like how you dropped the "or perhaps in the second half of the 1st round" out of my quote.  :)

Do you really think it is essential that Shaq plays the entire 1st round?

I think we can afford to have him sit out the first 3-4 games if needed.

The Knicks series lays more on Rondo's shoulders anyway. His creativity against the weak NY paint protection is a huge advantage. If Rondo is "on" the Knicks will be crushed.

before everyone gets all in a tizzy....lets wait until after the team practices...nothing was ever said about shaq doing a shootaround..

the plan according to ainge(and still in an interview with herald today said) shaq is going to practice Thursday/Friday and then they will evaluate how he feels and hopefully have him there for Game 1..

lets wait until after practice tomorrow/Friday though to get "worried"

I don't think this is the first time Doc and Danny have put out conflicting statements regarding Shaq.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

All this waiting on Shaq I hope is worth it in the end or it just becomes one big joke.
