Is it just me, or do others think that the defense made significant progress last week.  Frankly, had Chung intercepted the pass in the final drive (looked catchable from what I saw, but I didn't see a replay), we'd be talking about how well the D played.  But... the D blew it after a pretty well-played game.

Bottom line is that I can't give up on this team quite yet. I thought I saw the semblance of a pass rush in this game and if the offense played to its capability, the Pats would have won.

The next 3 weeks will tell the story.

Bye-Bye Albert.

Unfortunately, almost but not quite doesn't really count.  The performance of the defense was certainly encouraging, but they looked helpless when it really mattered -- and that, quite rightly, is all that most people think about when they consider the performance of the defense last week.

Sounds like McCourty will be out a few weeks.  Not good for an already banged up secondary.

The Patriots won a crucial game on Sunday night, but their beleaguered secondary took another massive hit.

The team’s best cornerback Devin McCourty hurt his shoulder in the win over the Jets.  Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that it’s “believed” McCourty has a grade two shoulder separation.

Dan Roche of WBZ first reported that McCourty had a separated shoulder. Breer believes McCourty could be out 2-3 weeks. Don’t expect the Patriots to confirm much of anything regarding the injury this week.

New England’s defense survived against Mark Sanchez, but they could have trouble with a trip to Philadelphia in a couple of weeks with such an injury-plagued, talent-deprived secondary.

Well, at least we won't be facing a team with a good passing quarterback until the last game of the season against Buffalo.

Yeah, their schedule the rest of the way is somewhat a joke.  Anything less than 12-4 would be disappointing right now.

Last night was certainly a great win with the only complaint was being in mid Novemeber instead of mid January..... The pay back is far from complete with these AOG Edited for profanity.  Please do not do it again.s.

We got a nice opportunity to win the division and get a 1st round bye.

It remains to be seen if the talent is there to make a significant run at a Super Bowl Victory.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Honestly, we had 6 undrafted free agents playing defense last night.  If we win the superbowl I almost think football as a whole is broken

sounds like the Pats' offensive line forgot to come to work today

better 2nd half than 1st half.
now that the Chiefs have emptied their playbook, I expect things to go in the Pats' favor for the rest of the game.
oh, and Gronk is pretty awesome.

What is the record for most interceptions in one season that were tipped by a teammate/receiver?

how about this Gronkowski guy, huh?  i might ask for a gronk jersey for christmas . . . .

and tyler palko . . . oof.  it takes a certain kind of QB to throw 3 picks to the Patriots' junior varsity secondary.

Dallas Cowboys
Green Bay Packers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
NY Jets
NY Giants
New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons

What do all these teams have in common?

They ALL allow more points per game than the Pats do this year...

There are only a couple of elite defenses this year and after that, they are all inconsistent and mediocre in my opinion.

So enough with this team doesnt have the defense to win a championship.

I am more worried that the offense wont figure out how to score 20 points than I am about the defense.

This is a typical bend but dont break defense and theyre breaking ALOT less lately. Theyre even making more plays (sacks and INTs). These no name secondary players are taking better angles and playing better than our name guys that we released IMO.

I'm excited to see how this plays out and to see this defense gain confidence against some really crappy offensive teams.

I see where you are coming from, and I see some improvement in the Pats defense, but I need to keep seeing the improvement before I'm convinced it's not a fluke.

Regarding the offense, I think the loss of the C (Koppen) has hurt more than expected.

I need to see how this defense will respond to more top competition, unfortunatley or fortunately depending on how you look at it, we won't see anymore top competition this year until the playoffs
