If he's done sign Magnum Rolle or that Chris Johnson guy

All the Celtics need is another big body. And them being younger doesn't hurt

No point.  It's to late for them to play in the playoffs and they wouldnt make the playoff roster anyways.

Yeah it's too late now.. Remember,.. sir Doc is firm when he said he'll play a 9-man rotation in the play-offs...

All the talk about Shaq needing to find his rhythm before the postseason and whatnot doesn't make a whole lot of sense... A big guy like Shaq, all he's gotta do is set screens, rebound, be a presence in the paint, and post-up. He should just sit out in the playoffs, too risky not to do so.

Agree.

Pretty stupid making him play against the lowly Pistons when he's so fragile, sigh.

Let's just hope he recovers in time to make the playoffs, and can actually give meaningful minutes. Both are big ifs.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

It isn't that simple. Other players also have to get used to playing with him again. Basketball is a team sport.

He also needs to get used to playing defense again

I'm placing the blame on Shaq's injury on Krstic, who's day to day and not out longer. The Celts are on a strict "no more than two healthy centers at any one time" regimen.

I never understood the 9 man rotation thing. Shouldn't the coach want to give the starters more rest en route to the Finals?

So the last time Shaq had a minor injury he missed 2 months and 25 plus games, yet this Time he is going to snap back in no time. He played 5 minutes tonight and got hurt again hardly doing anything.  To remind everyone,   A much younger and much more in shape guy like KG missed 9 games earlier this year with a calf strain. it is great that the injury is minor, but he is 39 and an injury waiting to happen every time he takes the floor.

If he's that fragile then how long would he last against a good team come playoff time?

I agree.  I think Shaq showed rust last year in the Cle series proving he needs time just like anyone else.  Altough it is not entirely over, tonight is a significant set back for a rust-free Shaq being a contributor this year.  We may not need him to win the first round but it also won't offer all that much opportunity let Shaq work off the rust.

I am not a Celtics fan but I totally love Shaq and this just looked bad from the start. Glad it isn't as serious as originally thought.

Yeh, I was pretty much resigned to that being the last time we would see one of the All Time Greats in uniform.  It would have been a really sad way to see his career end.  Hoping he has a bit more glory left in him.
Yup

You state the obvious here.  We all know that Shaq is 39 and that he'll be prone to injury every time he runs down the court.  But you, me and others have been wrong this year -- some folks said Delonte wouldn't be back (DA said he would); many folks said KG wouldn't be back (DA said he would); many, many folks said JO wouldn't be back (DA said he would).

I am not confident in Shaq's ability to stay on the court this season, but if Danny and Doc say he'll be back then it is at least possible that he will.  Realistic thinking tells us chances are he won't be a factor this year, but as fans, it's OK sometimes to think with the heart.

How long do you expect it to take for Shaq to play again?

Doc is saying theres a chance he'll play by weeks end but not the Philly game. Krstic and Murphy back training and should play.

All from forsberg.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?
