here is KG's strained calf earlier in the year though.  Also similar in their reactions a bit.

Time to stop counting on Shaq, come playoffs. Looks like what we got now is what we are going to be going with. Too bad Danny has been atrocious at acquiring big men since he drafted Perk.

lets hope its true and he is only out for 3 weeks like kg was earlier this year. Ugh this team has no luck with injuries

it is not a matter of LUCK...shaq is 39, and probably 60 pounds past his perfect weight for basketball...this injury is no surprise...he will not be able to give the team ANY minutes in the playoffs, that you can pretty much count on.

I'm just fine going in the playoffs with a healthy Jermaine O'Neal and Krstic. Anything we can get off of Shaq is gravy.
#1 JO is not going to be THAT healthy
#2 Krstic is not going to help much at all defensively or offensively
How can you been fine with those two manning the middle? We have 1% chance of winning with those two holding down the center position.  It is incredible that Ainge dumped Perk when we were so prone to getting injured...it simply made no sense in terms of winning this season.

I'm willing to give Shaq one more chance. We need his presence, he was playing REALLY well before his injury. Such a shame.

I wouldn't sleep on JO.  If the surgery worked, there is fairly good chance he can be at least as good as he was for Miami during the regular season when he put up 14, 7, and 2.

Obviously if he is healthy he plays, but I am done counting on him to be back for the playoffs. Shaq is done, IMO. If he gets back I will be ecstatic.

Maybe we should give our players calcium supplements before someone breaks a hip

Injured players for Celtics this season who have missed games

Rajon Rondo
Kevin Garnett
Shaquille O'Neal
Jermaine O'Neal
Delonte West
Glen Davis
Nenad Krstic
Troy Murphy
Semih Erden
Kendrick Perkins
Marquis Daniels
Nate Robinson
Delonte West Again
Shaq again
Shaq again

At least we have an excuse as to why we didnt win it all this year. Oh well, 08 was beautiful :P

I'd say we have about as good a chance as the Hawks to win it all at this point.

Nah, a bit better than the Hawks.  I'd say we're on par with the Magic, Thunder, and Mavs, all things considered.

We're in the tier below the Lakers, Bulls, Heat, and Spurs.

I think if we don't win it all this year there won't be any one particular thing we can blame it on, aside from the team simply being too old and too reliant on injury prone players.
Yea, your estimate is probably more accurate, I just found out about the Shaq thing 5 minutes ago so I havent really digested it yet, still irritated :P

Have some faith... sheesh.

lol

I think no one wants the regular season over faster than the Celtics right now.

Every time you think that's the last injury we're going to see another one happens smh.

They just showed Shaq walking by himself leaving the arena.

He was limping, but it's a good sign to see him walking on his own.

Yup, very encouraging sign.

You mean when it's reported that he strained his right calf we shouldn't all start automatically assuming that it's an ACL tear and that Shaq's professional basketball career is over?

Insanity!

If he's done sign Magnum Rolle or that Chris Johnson guy

All the Celtics need is another big body. And them being younger doesn't hurt
