If that happens, it will certainly add to Ainge's legend on this blog...if Big Al makes his way back here, will that mean we got KG for basically nothing? ;) :P

What about a sign and trade for green. Big al would play big minutes of the bench. i dont know what the salries are, but didnt utah get him for practicaly nothing? maybe his not as valuble as some think. we could also trade baby for a back up 3.

why is he not happy in utah, is it his role or that they are no longer contending

I have mixed emotions about this, and I think Utah will pass because they really don't need another small PF to compete with Jeremy Evans and Paul Milsap for the backup minutes Derrick Favors will ultimately offer (when Favors is starting next year).

But having Big Al at the 4/5..that might extend the window into legitimately next year even if KG or Shaq take some steps back after this season (which at some point, they'll have to).

What would you offer to Utah to get him??

Nothin...can't be done. We don't have what they want, which is an above average to borderline all-star 2 or 3. Kevin Martin type maybe.

It depends.  Utah didn't have to give up much to get him, which maybe shows that Big Al doesn't have as much value as we may think.  With Utah going forward with Millsap and Favors, and with presumably a new, more restrictive CBA, I think that Utah may take much less than you expect.

Let's play devil's advocate for a moment.

One can argue that Big Al isn't much of a defensive force and his play seems to have peaked 2 years ago and he has regressed or leveled since.  Yes, I still want him on my team, but those are factors to use to lower his price.

I think he would be great off the bench and I too wonder how KG's influence would effect him.

Poor defense, questionable drive, great stats?

Don't tell Danny, he'll trade Pierce for him. ;)

if al comes back... we basically got kg and ray for nothing. legendary trade!

as for al actually coming back... we wouldn't be able to afford him but a rondo, green, jefferson future does look very very bright.

I don't agree with that line of reasoning. I was referring to the threads that popped up with similar arguments when we got Jeff Green. ;)

A future with Al, Rondo and Green probably wouldn't be good enough. That's two #2's and a 3, and we need an ace with the 2012 max money that will be available.

big al still hasn't learned to play defense. love his game on offense, but yeah, i don't see this working out...or happening. he's the centerpiece in the rebuilding utah.

What we really need is a good center who can score and defend very well (not necessarily a Perk replacement), and Utah would want a prolific scoring SG.. I don't think a trade between us and utah would be ideal, even if it involves big al..

Big Al will wear green again. It is as true as that the sun is rising in the East.

Would Big Al even be willing to come off the bench?

"Big" Al Jefferson is not happy in Utah. He is not feeling the Jazz. Additionally, the Jazz are stacked at his position and recently traded for a cheaper, younger and more defensive oriented power forward, D Favors.

Is Big Al on the move?  What would it take to bring him back to Boston?

Didn't Big Al just come out and say he'd rather stay at the center position than move back to the PF spot? That he felt more comfortable there. That the lack of power players at the PF spot these days made life too difficult for him and that it was easier for him as a center.

I don't see the Derrick Favors addition causing any problems on that score.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Big Al, but I'm not pining for him to return

Would have to be on the (relative) cheap, given that Al hasn't had much of an impact in the 2 stops since he left Boston.  He has been slow to pick up Utah's offense, and still is a weak defender.

But he is a superb Rebounder and offensive player.  Both of which have been areas of need for us as of late.
