Im just wondering about the Semih Erden trade, was it seperate to the marquis trade? With the oneals being out i would of thought danny would keep him.

I don't think he is the player or prospect that some make him out to be but his longer and was more active defensivly then nenad. is all we recieved in return a 2nd rounder?
i havnt watched the game but seems like hibbert scored with ease on nenad/baby.

Would he of helped agaisnt hibbert at all?

i could probly look it up but im at work and i cant be botherd

Both Erden and Harangody were traded to Cavs for a 2nd round pick.

The main reason I assume was to have 2 free roster spots to sign free agents (which they did).

Erden was better defensively than Kristic, but he was a poor ball handler and was below average on offense.

To be fair to Erden, he's an NBA rookie and had a shoulder injury that was hurting him.

I kind of miss Erden, I liked him. If he can stay healthy he should have a pretty good NBA career.

I don't think there would have been playing time for him anyways, with kristic, JO, Shaq. As it is, I would rather have kristic playing than erden. Loved the kid though

if they can get back then i agree. i'd rather have nenad on the court as he plays a differnt game, he can space the floor and can knock down mid range shots, maybe 8-12 minutes a game?
i dont think nenad can gaurd the stronger big men in the play offs. but then again erden proberly could'nt either....
so yeah alot relies on shaq and jermaines health

Actually I'm gonna go ahead and say he definitely would have helped. Per 36 minutes, he averaged 10 points very efficiently, whereas Krstic is averaging only a couple of points more, but less efficiently. So Krstic's offense is arguably better, but Semih is a much better defender from what I've seen. So I think against a guy like Hibbert, who is now one of the Pacers' main weapons, I would've rather had Semih in. Save Krstic for the offensively impotent centers.

That said, there's no doubt that Semih is more useful at this point than Troy Murphy. Why we traded for a guy averaging 3 points per game on the season and acted like he was going to contribute is completely beyond me.

We traded him to create room for Troy Murphy and his bum leg/knee/whatever it is that makes him so useless

Erden was picking up the team D well.  I didn't understand that trade.  With the way things are going I would rather have him play than Krstic.  Krstic is terrible on defense and a foul machine.  Can't stand watching him play.

I remember reading a article that mentioined that he wanted to go home and play in Turkey next year. So yea it makes sense to grab Murphy who will probably be cheap to sign this summer and a better player with a training camp.

Keep in mind that Erden was battling injuries and needed surgery on his shoulder.  One reason he was traded was that Ainge didn't trust his body to hold up for the entire season.  The other main reason that Erden was traded was that Ainge needed to give up something of value to get someone to take Harangody.

Too bad we don't still have Scalabrine.  It'd be about time for someone in here to put forth the idea of a Scalabrine for Hibbert trade.

how much money was left on the balance of Harangody's contract? cant have been more then 200k. also i thought he was a free agent at the end of the season? even if what im reading is right and he is owed $788,872 next year that is still not that much in terms of NBA money. i really wish we had kept Erden and cut Harengody, if we got to a point where we needed that 3rd roster spot we could have cut Erden then, but honestly having a health big would have been better then Sasha

Per 36 minutes, he averaged 10 points very efficiently, whereas Krstic is averaging only a couple of points more, but less efficiently.
Per 36 minutes, Erden averaged 10.5 pts and 7.5 rebounds on .600 shooting. Krstic averages 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on .510 shooting.

So it's slightly more than a couple of points more. Also, given that people generally agree that Krstic is mediocre rebounder at best, then by extension Erden should be quite pitiful.

As far as being a foul machine is concerned, Erden was almost as bad as Krstic -- both average in excess of 5 fouls per 36. It seems that this is the case of "the grass is always greener on the other side" situation.

As for Murphy, he sprained an ankle in practice. So you can think of this as "Troy Murphy and his bum ankle"... or think of it as trading away Erden and his bum abs (he played less than 1 full game with the Cavs and is still out).
