If you depend on a miracle every year, you will be disappointed. If you expect a huge midseason trade not to have an impact on the chemistry of your team and cause problems you will be disappointed. This looks and feels much different than last year.
Last year wasn't a miracle. And when you say it feels different from last year I assume you mean better.
decidedly not better in terms of personnel. at the moment both the starting and bench units were better last season.
Rondo
Ray
PP
KG
Perk
Nate
TA
BBD
Sheed
Those units make way more sense in terms of what we do and what we need to be successful.
Nate was bad last year, Delonte should be better. Sheed was pretty bad in the playoffs. You spent all of last year decrying the fact that we didn't have a long backup wing who could shoot with range instead of TA, and we do now. And if Shaq comes back we'll probably have a better starting lineup this year as well.
I do not decry a back up SF/PF at the cost of a starting center.
honestly, Shaq needs to ALREADY be back for that trade to make sense because KG is getting way too burnt out for the point in the season.
when is Shaq gonna say enough with this and get his behind back on the floor. KG needs some freaking back up!
plus I think you are once again underrating how benches play. you did it with Pose and PJ and now you are doing it with Sheed and Nate....
So if you're worried about KG needing rest, how would he have been looking if we hadn't made the trade? No Krstic, no Green, no Perk for most of the time. Things would be worse now, including our record.
And how is the bench going to do this year compared to how Nate and Sheed did?
well we'd have our starting unit intact and a bench of Arroyo, DWest, Wafer, Pavlovic, BBD, Murphy and still the possibility of Shaq and JO.
First of all that's based on the assumption that Perk will be perfectly healthy throughout the playoffs, which is hardly a guarantee. And how many minutes have Green and Krstic played since the trade? No Shaq, Perk, JO, Wafer and some games without Baby. Who plays all those minutes?
