  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Just wondering if there is a specific date for the announcement or when they will give an announcement date?
My pick is Rose- he's become a media darling.
Heat will have to have a monstrous last 13 games for Lebron to get it.
Dwight is the Dark Horse but the magic have just been too quiet for him to command enough attention.
Every night on ESPN it's either lebron or kobe or Rose all over TV.

Anyway when on earth do they announce it? Is it 2nd round of the playoffs or earlier?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

It's usually the 2nd round of the playoffs or so.  I remember this because Dirk had to accept his in a studio somewhere (because the Mavs lost to Golden St that year).

Ouch.

I'm not sure if it's second round, but I'm pretty sure it's sometime during the play-offs. It's going to be Rose or Howard, and Lebron isn't really in the conversation. He isn't as valuable to the Heat as Rose and Howard are to their respective teams.

I think it has to be Rose at this point...if the Bulls didn't have D Rose, they would be headed for the lottery, not a deep playoff run (hypothetically...)

  • Rondo = Good
It'll be Rose just because of the media discourse that has developed around him.

This will certainly be one of the weaker years for MVP, though.  D-Rose is not really an MVP-caliber player, in all honesty.  The only reason LeBron won't get it is because he's no longer a fashionable pick after "The Decision."

You can apply that same logic to Dwight Howard and Orlando, though.  I'd even argue that Rose has more talent in Chicago than Dwight does in Orlando - I'd take Deng, Boozer and Noah over Nelson, Richardson and... Ryan Anderson?... in a heartbeat.

It's Rose (and deservedly so), but people will discount how good the rest of Rose's team is. When you watch the Heat play, Lebron is arguably more important, since they usually falter with him out of the lineup much more than Chicago falters with Rose out of the lineup.

Hopefully it is right before the Celtics/Bulls series starts so it will give Rondo that extra motivation to torch Rose out of his Adidas.

See David Robinson Wins MVP then get embarrassed by Hakeem Olajuwon

That and beating the Lakers again would make #18 that much sweeter.

Yes.  D-Rose has far more help than Dwight does, in all honesty.  The only difference is the Bulls are winning more games, but that can be attributed to better coaching which has resulted in better team defense.

Dwight does more for his team than Rose does for his.

Unless Lebron is somehow able to will the Heat to the best record in the Eastern Conference over Boston and Chicago with 11 games left in the season, than I don't see how Rose can lose the MVP.

Should be LeBron.

Rose is very underwhelming for an MVP candidate. Shooting under 44% from the field, not top five in points/assists (last I checked), not top 10 in PER. Isn't it possible Chicago's depth is very, very underrated as well as its coach?

Disagree. Rose has certainly been the front runner for quite some time.

Oh he's certainly the front runner, and almost a lock to win it this year.

I don't think he should though.

I hate that it is the expectations of the media/fans that determine who's the MVP. Instead of rewarding play, we reward those who exceed waht we thought they'd do.

It's crazy to think Rose could be a senior at Memphis right now. If he wins he'll be the youngest MVP ever.
