Here's an interesting article of Stern vs. Hunter and the CBA negotiations that occurred during the All-Star Weekend.

He said it himself.  At Yahoo Sports, Adrian Wojo-yadda-yadda-yadda writes about a meeting before the NBA All-Star game.  Billy Hunter gave a strong speech that made Stern incredibly angry:

Quote
Stern told the room he knows where “the bodies are buried” in the NBA, witnesses recounted, because he had buried some of them himself.

“It was shocking,” Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose(notes) told Yahoo! Sports. “I was taking off my gear, and when he said that, I just stopped and thought, ‘Whoa …’

“I couldn’t believe that he said it.”

Rose wasn’t alone. Said another All-Star in the room, “I was shocked … just shocked.”

Whatever implications were intended with Stern’s words, several players declared the scene to be a galvanizing moment. It was “probably the best Billy has been around us,” one veteran Eastern Conference All-Star told Yahoo! Sports. Out of fear of league retribution, several witnesses in the room didn’t want comments attributed to them.

Well, at least it's nice to know that a potential Celtics-Bulls playoff series may have some retribution via biased officials against Rose for allowing his comment to go on record.

David Stern is such a Gangster, lol.

It's hard for me to go against the players when I'd be siding with Stern.

I hope some type of compromise happens.

Pretty crazy article.  Hunter has surely been making the rounds for the past year or so to build relations with players.

I hope they work something out, too, but it's a bit of a unique situation:

If my boss is losing money, I would expect to get laid off.  The union's position seems to be "if you're losing money, it's your own darned fault, so pay us anyway.", to which the [less-rich] owners will respond, "with what?"

It seems that the owners are coming together to put the screws to the players, but for this to work out for players, they have to hold on long enough for the owners to turn on each other and have the weaker teams hold up the richer teams for revenue sharing.  That might be the most reasonable solution, but it seems more likely that the players cave.

what does that comment mean? what "bodies buried"?

Quote
Someone who by virtue of holding a position of trust with an organization for a long period of time has come to know many of the secrets that others in more powerful positions would rather be kept secret knows where the bodies are buried. An implication is that the person knowing these secrets will use that knowledge to secure something of value for him- or herself.

He can tell you but he may have to kill you afterward.

Yeah, right. Like he can't find you there. He knows where the bodies are buried in the justice department as well.

You could always try hiding out as a Kings fan. No one, not even Stern, would consider that, as such fans are thought to be a legend...
