i hate his attitude, if something doesn't go his way he's jelly bean jr
he doesn't appear to be a good teammate and regularly clashes with coaches

yes he's a great player, i would dislike him if he played for minny
I greatly respected the 80's lakers and would welcome nearly the whole team in green (except byron scott and kareem)

Yes. Other than Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, the NBA has never had as fierce a competitor as Kobe. Just a fact.

Um, regarding those facts...

Yes, probably. The guy is 32 years old (younger than Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Shaquille O'Neal) and he already has 5 rings. I don't know how many banners he would have hoisted if he weren't paired up with Shaq early in his NBA career, but the fact remains that he is a proven winner and a clutch performer.

I think some of the comparisons between Bryant and Jordan can be misleading considering the fact that Jordan revolutionized the SG position with his offensive capabilities & athleticism to the point where SG's today are still influenced by his play-style.

In today's game, most NBA teams have multiple (or at least more) scoring options to chose from on offense, which might make it unnecessary for a SG to be the number 1 scoring option the majority of the time if they weren't shooting a high field goal percentage (compared to the league average).

he doesn't appear to be a good teammate and regularly clashes with coaches

The ultimate straw man argument.

How does a bad teammate who regularly clashes with coaches win that many championships?  How does a bad teammate who regularly clashes with coaches win championships with two completely constructed rosters?

winning championships is a team thing, don't deny he's a great player

If your best player is a lousy teammate, you don't win a championship.  Let alone 5

Simple answer, Yes. Anyone who brings championships and wins to Boston the fans will love.

Longer answer: I think it'd be like Rondo... We love him but we're frustrated by him at the same time. He makes spectacular plays sometimes but then takes shots that I cringe at after. And Rondo hasn't exactly seen eye to eye with the coaching staff. Rondo's just not as good as Kobe to have the authority/guts to do what Kobe does to his team/coach.

I root for the C's and have yet to think that I know any player well enough that I would root against him based on who he is as a person.

But, the question is would I 'like' him -- and I guess that is a tough question to answer.  We THINK we know these players, but in truth we may not 'like' any of them if we really got to know them.  I am sure many are arrogant and obnoxious. And there are probably some that we think we wouldn't like, but actually would.

But I'd root for the C's regardless of the name on the back of the Jersey -- unless I had personal knowledge and personal experiences to lead me otherwise.

Probably if he started out as a Celtic, maybe if he suddenly puts on a Celtics jersey. I'm pretty sure if KG played for another team, we wouldn't like him very much either.

Yes...  I am a CELTICS fan.  If Kobe wore green I'd embrace him as one of us...

I'm a die hard Celtics fan but I have to say, I wouldn't like Kobe if he came to the Celtics now.  The hate is just too deep seated.  Same goes for LeBron.

I support all players that wear green no matter what. I don't get emotionally tied to individual players (except for Pierce). Couldn't care less what the player did outside of the arena as long as he produces on the court. I understand I'm probably in the minority with that, but that's how I feel.

I would turn anorexic if Kobe were to be a Celtic...I wouldn't stop throwing up...but I wouldn't talk bad about him while he wore green.
