Perkins trade yes.

Erden and Luke to make space for Murphy was a big mistake. even is neither has a real future with the C's, they could have really helped especially Erden. He kept us in alot of games against atheletic teams because he was able to cover a lot of ground under the basket. He may have been out of position; but he mad up for it with his range and his ability to bother shots around the rim.

Also, on the worst team in basketball, Luke was a DNP-Coach's decision last night, whereas Erden wasn't on the active roster.  (I don't know what his health situation is.)

I think the trade has shown how good the two players we received in the deal really are. A lot of naysayers came out in full effect right after the deal, but have mostly been silenced by the play of Krstic and Green. Hell, they were the only ones to show up for last night's game against the Sixers.

The fact that we'll get the Clippers pick (top 10 protected) is also exciting. I'm hoping we can use it this year and snag a guy like Chris Singleton out of Florida St. or one of the Morris twins out of Kansas.

We won the Perkins trade by a mile.  Role player coming off major knee surgery/injury + Robinson for Green, Krstic, and a 1st round Clipper pick ?  Ainge could have one of his hands cut off in some countries for completing that deal.

The Erden/LH trade was a non factor.  The core 4 made Erden look golden, and Harangody can be replaced with a 2nd round pick and wasn't logging major minutes.  Not with the people ahead of him.  Erden also will need 2 surgeries in the offseason.  He's already beat up, something you didn't need on this roster going forward.

This team is now upgraded on the bench with Green and Krstic.  Shaq and the center committee can handle Perks loss.  They have all year while Perk was on the sideline.

No brainer trade. Especially considering the future.  And thats not even counting what you can land with the 1st round Clipper pick.  Thats an addition down the road in itself.  Could be a huge addition when you have a guy like Ainge making the pick.

We really cant judge the trade yet until we have a fully health roster.

The trade was made with everyone healthy in mind, so lets wait and see how it plays out, on paper it looks great, but we wont know how it pans out until the playoffs.

We know that Shaq makes our starting unit better and he clogs the paint.

Will JO be able to come back and be as effective as a post-injury perkins? I think he will. He can play 10-15 minutes a game and focus on shot-blocking and defense, which he did well when he played this year.

The only problem people have with this trade is that Shaq/JO were injured at the time and nobody is 100% sure of their condition.

If Shaq and JO were both playing right now and beasting nobody would be panicking like they are right now.

Ask yourself this....if given the opportunity, would you rescind the trade?  I think most would say no; I wouldn't.

The issues are how fast we can integrate all the new players, in a relatively short time, and how healthy Shaq, JO, and West will be in April. 

Sometimes I think back to 2008.  We were a team in disarray not in the regular season, but in the first 2 rounds of the POs.  A lot of us thought that given the way we played against ATL and CLE, we wouldn't have a chance in the ECF, let alone the Finals.  But against the Pistons, we turned things around, and played well.  My point is that teams can sometimes pick up their game in a surprisingly short time span...I think with the personnel and coaching on the Cs, that this can be achieved.

Exactly. Career high rebounding cancels out all the other negatives. I mean, it's not like Perk had absolutely no lift, or like he was averaging about half as many blocks, or like he was routinely getting stuffed at the rim...oh wait...

At least when Krstic gets stuffed on he has a chance of scoring the points back on the other end.

it does depend on the bigs but it's also why the trade was made.
Danny and doc have more info on the potential health of the bigs on our team than anyone.
They obviously made the decision based on the notion that:
*shaq was going to come back healthier than ever
*jermaine was going to be able to put in back up minutes for both shaq and krstic and garnett.
*Perkins was simply no where near as good and was worth trading to get paul peirce and KG some rest down the stretch.

even krstic is going to be invaluable off the bench for resting shaq if he's in foul trouble early. (which will happen in more than one important game somewhere down the line).

They would'nt make this trade if they were 100% positive that at least shaq will be 100%.

It's just awfully hard to try to evaluate this for a good 'nother month.  If both are still with the team next year, after a training camp, then this is a clear win.  As for this year, depends on whether the team as a whole can gel in time for the playoffs.  That was the big gamble, but talent-wise, I think we're clearly better.

If after another month, the defense is still shaky, then it'll probably not seem like such a good gamble for this year.

If the Celtics win a championship, it's a win too.

The earliest one can have a valid opinion on this trade would be the results of the playoffs this year. Anything earlier would be premature.

What happens if the C's don't win the championship? What if Green walks at the end of the year to another team? that Clippers 1st rd pick ends of being protected or ends up being a dud somehow? What happens if Perkins helps the Thunder get far in the playoffs or even heaven forbid further in the playoffs then the C's this year?

Make out like bandits? Can't be determined yet...
