Has he scored a point for us yet?
He's scored at least one point but hasn't made a basket.
Yeah he made one free throw.

I am going to predict that Murphy will break out sooner rather than later.

It looks like a confidence thing. Physically he looks fine. Mark it down. Unless Glen Davis comes back tomorrow night against Philly, Murphy is going off for at least 15 and 10.

Just trust me. Dont ask why.

Uh, did he not just play a mere four and a half minutes against the Clips?

Granted he mustn't have looked great but jeez he hasn't really had much of an opportunity yet. I'm willing to be patient and see how he looks in a week or two.

Krstic played way too many minutes against Clips. Murphy is not able to play against athletic bigs and neither is Krstic.

I remember reading earlier this year that the reason Murphy didn't see playing time in NJ wasn't *solely* because Avery Johnson hated him.  Rather, there was concern that Murphy hadn't fully recovered from injury, and that his legs were shot.

I'm glad Murphy is here, but it's important to remember that he may not be healthy, and he might not get healthy.  It's not clear-cut that this is just a case of rust.  Obviously, the Celtics and Heat were both willing to gamble otherwise, so that weighs in favor of the notion that he'll be a contributor.  However, there's no guarantee that Murphy ever becomes even as good as Mikki Moore for us.

I don't doubt you at all, Roy, but is there any chance that you might be able to dig up a link to that? If not, don't worry about it - I'm just curious. I don't remember this at all.

I briefly looked for it, but couldn't find a link.  My guess is that it was linked in a fantasy basketball report at some point, but I read it probably two months ago and can't remember where.

Just look at his game log.  He was nowhere near as productive as he has been the rest of his career.  Obviously, stats don't tell us everything, but it is certainly a red flag that he was not 100% even when he was playing early this season.

He needs his "Game legs" in order to hit shots in game conditions. Hope it is that simple. If not we just let Erden go for nothing.

If the highly coveted Troy can't find the on switch he might never see the line up in the playoffs. He'll be playing the Michael Finley role and making sure everyone is hydrated.

Troy is no doubt talented but unfortunately for him he has been pretty much an older, taller, less consistent Luke Harangody. He can do better and I hope for the Celtics sake he does cause when he's on he can be a great role guy and could be more reliable than Luke ever could be this year.

The Celtics let Semih go because he wasn't going to play in the playoffs, he's a rookie but more important, he's injured. I think I read somewhere he's also having to deal with health issues in his family. I would have liked that the Celtics simply shelved him and wait for next year, but with the O'Neals uncertainty, I guess Danny made the correct move, trying to get some extra help, but I still would like to see Semih back in green next year.

Troy could bring that help, but I don't buy that comparison with Sheed. He can shoot 3's better than Sheed, but he's not as good as Sheed in the post. Post defense and post offense rely on the O'Neals shoulders, so they better be ready at the end of the regular season.

I wasn't very high on Murphy, but since he became a Celtic, I'm rooting for him to show up as a 3-point threat and a good rebounder. That would be good insurance for BBD, and I'll be very happy if he can contribute with 5-10 minutes when he's needed.

Signing Troy Murphy was a long shot. That he wasnt seeing the floor for Avery Johnson means he was not performing. I dont think Avery lets him go so easily if he isnt damaged goods and that is disturbing. If he were just out of shape or couldnt get along with Avery I think that would have been in the media at some point. I dont think it had anything to do with fitting Avery's system. If he was able to play, why didnt the Nets showcase him and make a trade? That would have made more sense that paying him for nothing. I guess they (the Nets) could be that poorly managed.

The guy has a history of being a good shooter and rebounder up till this year. That doesnt just go away overnight unless something pretty significant has happened. I feel like he was likely hurt in Indiana and Bird dumped him on the Nets. The Nets finally found out they were rooked and bought him out. Then again, wouldnt he have had surgery or some kind of rehab?

If he was just out of shape, a professional would have done something about it over the course of the season just to be ready when his chance came up. I dont expect him to be all star material or even equal to his past stats. I do believe he can contribute at some point, the question is how much and for how long. I really hope he is just shaking off rust and learning our system, otherwise he will be just a body for fouls.

Still, he is more valuable than Erden who is injured and cant play at all.

You know I want all the new guys to figure out their role and play accordingly and for the injured to be back at it full strength--and all this as of game time today--but of course that ain't happening. What I can realistically expect is for each new guy to figure out how to best make the team better over the next 10+ games as Baby, West and to a lesser extent Wafer, filter back in. And then bring Shaq and if can JO back in for the last 8 or so games so that by the 2nd round, provided we win round 1, we are hitting on all cylinders while playing tough games in preparation for the ECF and then the Finals. As others have said, as long as we win the last game of the season, I'll be happy.

I don't think Murphy has long.  But the fact of the matter is that even if he had played brilliantly the past couple of weeks, it likely would've mattered little.  Once Shaq and BBD are back, it's going to be darn near impossible for Murphy to get any minutes.  KG is going to play at least 32 mpg, if not more.  Those remaining minutes are going to go to Green and/or BBD, not Murphy.

From the moment he signed here, I thought it was quite possible that he'd be spending the postseason on the inactive list.

I was pretty high on murphy prior to us picking him up so its been odd.  I'm very impressed w/ krstic's game and so far murphy hasn't show much.  He is not playing like he's injured, seems like his reaction time is way off.  Probably has a lot to do with not playing in nj.
I still expect better play from him, he's always shown good character imo so hopefully he can give us something this year and look good enough to be a vet big off the bench next year.
