Would you like an unhealthy JO or a Troy Murphy who is healthy but rusty?

Right now, I want Murphy eating minutes, so JO can push him to the end of the bench come playoff time.

At this point, I am starting to think Murphy will be no more than an emergency option.  And as long as everyone else remains on track, that is all we need from him.

I remember reading earlier this year that the reason Murphy didn't see playing time in NJ wasn't *solely* because Avery Johnson hated him.  Rather, there was concern that Murphy hadn't fully recovered from injury, and that his legs were shot.

I'm glad Murphy is here, but it's important to remember that he may not be healthy, and he might not get healthy.  It's not clear-cut that this is just a case of rust.  Obviously, the Celtics and Heat were both willing to gamble otherwise, so that weighs in favor of the notion that he'll be a contributor.  However, there's no guarantee that Murphy ever becomes even as good as Mikki Moore for us.

I don't doubt you at all, Roy, but is there any chance that you might be able to dig up a link to that? If not, don't worry about it - I'm just curious. I don't remember this at all.

Troy Murphy is in a shooting slump, but other than that he doesn't look unhealthy or out of shape to me. Looks pretty much like his normal self. What are people seeing that I'm missing?

I'm a bit worried that he may not be able to get out of his shooting slump putting so few shots up and playing so little minutes - and if Murphy isn't making shots, he's kind of useless-, but we'll see. Hopefully he breaks out of it in one of the next couple of games.

He had 2 awesome plays in the 1st quarter yesterday where he got his hand up to block a pass that was comin from behind him twice in like 2 minutes. Green got called for a charge and rondo bricked 2 shots in that time. Murphy was the only person in that short segment doing anything of note.

Although one of those steals was right after he bricked a wide open jumper.

And he was all over the place on the defensive rotations.  He got lucky to get in a passing lane, but I would not really credit him for his defense there.

I just thought he was good on his heads up defense. obviously he's got a ways to go in learning our team defense.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Maybe Miami was pushing us to get Murphy and be stuck with him rather than getting someone else that could help us more. Were we suckered? You asl Doc and he would probably say: "Well, I dont know....." He never knows anything for sure; its always "I think... probably....Im not sure...." lol Murphy has shown NADA. As for not scoring any points, I saw him make a foul shot - I dont know if that is the extent of his offense.
And someday in the midst of time,

Remember that you were a friend of mine

Its funny to me how alot of you guys panic like the "ship be sinking" lol. I trust in veterans, he is older so its going to take longer for his legs & lungs to get into game shape. One person noted he was making all his shots in the warmups but he wasn't tired then. Get winded, legs weaken, shots flat! Relax it will all come together & it would help if he played more than 5 mins. total for the game. 15pts.-12rebs in 08-09 14pts-11rebs last year with good 3pt. - FT% he will bounce back.

He's scored at least one point but hasn't made a basket.
