How long do people think Murphy has to make a name for himself? I'm definitely giving him the benefit of the doubt for now and I'm hoping he will get his legs back and once he knocks down a couple of shots that it will start to come together. I was also hoping that I would see some better defensive rebounding from him but again it is still early and he doesn't look too comfortable out there as of now.

There isn't a ton of time left and guys like Green, Krstic and even Pavolovic and Arroyo look fairly comfortable out there and actually seem like they fit in pretty well.

How long will Doc give him (with him not producing) until Doc cuts the cord? Unlike Pavolovic and Arroyo I think Doc and us fans were hoping that Murphy could be an important and useful piece moving forward but so far nothing. At some point Doc's gonna make that decision. Last year with about this much time left we had a mess with Nate Rob, Michael Finley, TA and Quis all kinda battling one another. I trust Doc and eventually he got it right toward the end of the season with TA getting big minutes and later in the playoffs when he was favoring NAte over Finley.

So what do you think? Is Doc going to ride him out even if he continues to struggle? How much time does Murphy have to prove his worth?

I know the guy is a bit out of shape, but I'm very surprised that he can't hit a shot yet. I don't know if he's been on the court with Rondo yet, but usually Rondo is able to get guys fairly easy shots and I haven't seen that yet. I think Doc rides him out for the rest of the regular season. His game will matter most in the playoffs if he can get his act together. I expected better out of him already, at least scoring a little bit.

He seems to be in very good health....so, I would say as long as an average human at least. ;)

once he shake off more rust he could give us 5 reb and 6 points...not good numbers but judging hes only getting around 15-20 minutes, thats not so bad

i say within 2-3 games, he'll start producing for us

This guy averaged a double double most of his career. I'm pretty sure we can give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

BTW this is my first post after reading this site since the old eric williams days. i was a bit shy haha

His last game, before becoming a C, was January 7th. And before that it was December 29th. Let's give him a break.

Yeah, I don't get this comparison either (TP) ... they are as different as any two players can be.

I get the comparison. Neither player can throw the ball in the ocean.

Troy Murphy, a true Boston Celtic:

4 games, 46 minutes, 0-10 FG, 0-5 3FG, 8 REB, 4 AST.

Those are Bosh-like numbers, but he doesn't need 4 games to do it.

Boy, good times...

Right now the kid can't make a basket, but if he works hard in practice he'll get in shape, and he'll get his chances to earn a spot. My guess is by playoff time, the inactive list will be Bradley, and depending on health and matchups, two out of Murphy, JO, Wafer, Arroyo and Sasha.

Murphy has talent, and can help, but he's no rotation player for the C's until he proves it. Of course I'd like him to fight BBD for the backup PF spot, but he's still far from it.

Doc and Danny will be patient, they need him to be in shape to save minutes for the starters, and he'll be just ok in a week or less. Be patient.
